Hi Jen, thank you so much for your concern. It is still taking me a long
time to get to sleep - I'm becoming something of a night owl now! Rather
than lying in bed, I'm doing things late into the night, just some light
work, admin, reading etc. But I'm allowing myself to sleep in a little later -
I always used to get up at 6. I'm sure this is just a phase - but I feel that
I've adjusted to it now. I might try melatonin which Isabella suggested, if I
can get hold of some.

If you can't get a hold of the melatonin, have you thought about over the counter sleep aids like simply sleep?  Just a thought

Thanks Isabella, I couldn't find any melatonin, but I'll get some simply
sleep in case the problems come back. I've been using a molton brown
sleep mist on my pillow which is quite soothing. I think that's helped,
believe it or not!
Again, thank you all for your concern..

hey peeps
Whittle, have you tried changing your routine at night time? When you used to get up at 6am, what did you used to the before going to bed?
Try and do things that dont stimulate the mind, dont drink tea or coffee say after 7pm - they are both stimulants and perhaps have a nice relaxing bath, read a book in the bath - I find this transports me to a different place away from all the hustle and bustle of work and life.
See how you go with that, and try to make your bedroom as relaxing as possible, soft lights, no tv, perhaps some classical music playing softly.

Thanks Fiona for the tips. I've always just watched a bit of TV or read
before bed. It's just that I've been analysing my life a lot recently, and I've
been having  sweating attacks, which I am realising are both probably due
to me going through the menopause.
The heat in my body seems to have calmed down a bit for the moment,
and I've been having a bath before bed which has really helped me feel
sleepy. I was getting to the point where I just wanted to get knocked on
the head, and knocked out! But I'm sleeping a little easier now, thank
you..

Hey again,

I just messaged on the other message.  With the simply sleep, I took it a long time ago and found that it made me groggy in the morning, how about you? maybe it works differently on diff people.  Sorry you couldn't find the melatonin, I guess italy stock different things to here.

Not sleeping is sooo aggravating and is so upsetting also.  Staying up to analyse your life and everything feels so heavy! I really feel for you as I know what it is like.

Hope you keep positive Whittle!

xx

hey peeps

Whittle, glad the bath is working for you....hope your sweat attacks are calimg themselves down a little now too. When my Mum went through the menopause she had terrivle sweats, I know she took some hrt medication but not sure which and I remember that helping her alot.
Try music too, I find that when I have trouble sleeping, if I listen to some really chilled out music on low it helps me drift off and also helps my brain switch off from the days chores.
I answered you on another post too...hope you see it!

I've been talking to friends, and I think you're right - it may be time for
some HRT medication. I just can't believe it!
I haven't used the simply sleep yet Isabella, I've got it now in case I need
to though. So I will bear the grogginess in mind, in case I need to be alert
the next morning.

A friend gave me a beautiful meditation 'song' to listen to - rain falling
and bells chiming. It's very calming too!

hey peeps
Whittle, have you spoken with one of the doctors on here? Perhaps they can recommend something too? I dont know much about HRT or menopause, only really what I remember from my Mum. I think she had hot flushes sometimes during the day and had a sweat thing going on too. I remember as soon as she started the hrt, she felt alot better.
Us women get it all to deal with dont we!!
Hope your feeling ok today.
