I went to try out the spray tan, and it was very good, everywhere EXCEPT my ankles. Why can't they get that bit right?! What's Dove island Issy?

hey peeps Yes what is Dove Island?? Ive not heard of it...sounds like the cream but I could be wrong! Issy....they always mess up the ankles for some reason! did they exfoliate? maybe you could try exfoliating them a little and see if that helps? with a dry sponge, similar to how they apply the st tropex, circular movements around the area. Good luck! Fi

Hey Ladies, instead of saying oh she fake tanned... we call it visiting dove island... the dove cream you can buy that gradually builds up tan. It's our wee joke. I reckon my ankles and knees go a lil funky orange/brown just because the skin is harder, i have decided to exfoliate then put a lil extra normal moisturiser on before i apply the fake tan so it doesn't soak in as much... will let you know if it works. I went to egypt last year and I happened to be spray tanned for a wedding I went to a few days before. It was a bit of a nightmare because it decided to crumble off half way through the holiday and I was so patchy for days... not my fave tanning moments! xxx

Hey girls, I know I am totally in a minority group but I have truly never sun bathed (i'm 59) and have never wanted a tan. I love my english rose pale skin, no really !! and my sisters are the same. I don't think I've met many other ladies besides my sisters who feel the same way so I know I'm outnumbered !! Both my husband and I don't enjoy the heat, we love the summer but get very ratty if we're too hot, so poolside holidays are not us, we're always on the move exploring and getting out of the hot sun if abroad. Just thought I'd throw my bit in. Jay x
If at first you don't succeed........

Hola guys and gals, I want to say... I am a sun worshipper! The wonderful vitamin D blast from the sun makes me tingle with happiness, I love sweating in the sun (and I sweat a lot gross I know ) When it is grey and cold I shut down and even take vitamin D supplements to get me though the dark months. To each their own I guess, elvisfan, i love that you like what you like, I know a lot of people who hate getting hot, my mother stays out of the sun, hates getting hot and flustered. I honestly do not know why I love the sun so much, what is our obsession with being brown? I can't help but feel more confident when tanned, though right now i am paler than pale! Disco x

To think of how I used to smother myself in oil in my 20's! Anything to go browner. I know I've done a lot of damage - but we just weren't warned enough about the dangers then. My daughter is so vigilant with SPF now. On holiday, I sit under an umbrella and read. I like to keep my body covered in a sarong too - but that's more to do with my weight than sun damage!

hey peeps I must say how much Ive enjoyed reading the posts from here today! Now...I have light olive skin, so in winter I look ill(or so am told) and in summer I go a nice golden brown colour..I must say that I much prefer having some tan, I feel better, feel healthier and when Im pale, like now, I dont want to show any of my skin and I fake tan on my face but not body as dont have enough time for all the exfoliation etc! I look forward to being hot on the beach and sweating! So Im with you on that one Discostick....I have been to Egypt in the height of their summer and went on a trip to the Sahara, it was 54 degrees and I loved it!!! Im going to Italy in June and cant wait for some heat on my skin. My bones and joints feel better when they get heat on them! Fi

touching on what disco said, the sun does give us a natural absorbtion of vitamin D which can keep away the depressive waves that we all get, I call them winter blues... So i think that is why i love love love the sun so much. When it is sunny i just feel mega. I love wearing flipflops and would wear them all year round, a nice excuse for regular pedicures! I love sweating and craving water and general golen fuzzyness! Where in Italy are you going Fi? Issy x

hey peeps The depressive thing your talking about is Seasonal Affective Disorder, it is recognised by doctors etc - check out the link for good advice...http://www.sad.org.uk/ Im going to Florence - I went to Venice last year and loved it so much, so this year, something different but just as gorgeous! I cant wait. It will take me away from the horrid wind and rain that we have right now! Although, I am secretly hoping that we get a nice summer this year! I got quite a good tan in the UK last year, first time ever! lol! Fi
