I'm trying to avoid wrinkles by always using factor 50 and wearing a hat...but there's a woman in the newspaper today that said she's now vitamin D deficient, with very low density bones, because she's been so vigilant about avoiding the sun. You can't win!! I'm going to Portugal next week (I tried the fake spray tan and it definitely took the edge off, so Im going to do it again.) But this article says I should definitely sun tan my body for at least 15 mins a day to get the benefit. So it seems its important to do a bit of suntanning but not too much. And i guess I'm going to get wrinkles whatever I do anyway!

hey ladies, think of it this way, when the sun shines, flowers open up, plants even stretch and grow in the direction of the sun, i think it is the same with people... I also take both supplements to keep my bones strong and my SAD defficiency at bay!! Disco

thats so true discostick id never thought about it that way. im like a little solarpanal i feel so energised from being in the sun. and we only get it for a few months a year here if that, so we might as well make the most of it! we've jus t got to make sure we slap on the suncream.

the thing i worry about being in the sun, is the amount of freckles and moles i get. i see more and more every year! and i know if id never been in the sun i wouldnt have them. its strange how they just appear out of nowhere, i get at least 3 or 4 new ones after ever summer especially on my arms and my chest. i know theyre not bad ones, theyre just little. but ill be covered soon if im not careful! anyone else get that?

I wish someone had told me to cover my hands in the sun, I've now got sun spots all over them! But I agree, Daisy, I have many moles and freckles from years of reckless sun exposure.

Funnily enough, I was looking at creams online just last week. There is one that is effective, but contains a harmful ingredient. Dermalogica used to sell it but they removed it from the shelves. I got such conflicting advice on creams from the internet, so I think probably laser is the most effective way. But I cant afford that. I watched Joanna Lumley's Nile documentary last night. And when she was pointing out paintings on the walls of tombs I saw she had the hands of a 20 year old - completely blemish free! I know she must have had some work done on her face too, but it doesnt look obvious. She is stunning! And born in 1946 - I had to look up her age! Freckles on the nose are sweet, my daughter gets that too.
