I promised myself that the new, whittled down me would get out and meet some men this summer. So its probably time that I think about how I'm going to go about it. Have people had good experiences with online dating? People certainly aren't embarrassed to talk about it these days! WA

My dad tried online dating - Sugardaddy, I think it was called. I haven't worked out whether I'm impressed or horrifies by the old man. He was seeing some girls 30 years younger, and was understandably very happy. Probably not what you're looking for, but I can tell you - my dad had no shame about it!

Hey Whittle, So about 7 years ago i went on some dating sites and did meet some chaps that ended up being just friends, it was empowering to be able to speak to them and be myself, i did find though that i represented myself differently slightly differently online so that i could appeal to different me, i think it was just to massage the ego, it was good fun but didn't go anywhere for me. I do have a very good friend who uses match.com and uses the times website and the guardian website and has met some really lovely chaps, she's dating one at the moment and is very happy. I think it is all good fun and you can definitely go on some dates and get your confidence up. You never know, you may meet the love of your life, just make sure you meet them in a public place and a friend knows where you are. you really never know. let us know how it goes Issy xx

Thank you Isabella, that was the sort of response that I was hoping for! I think I'll start in June - I always said I would give myself the first 6 months of the year to slim down and the last six months of the year to turn up the heat! MAtch.com is famous, I see the adverts on TV. So that is probably a good place to start and I like the idea of going through a newspaper too, as I'm likely to find someone who is intelligent and likes to keep up with current affairs! Yes, a public place. And perhaps I'll start with just lunch at the weekends. Now the next step is getting a good photograph!

MY friends are all being good sports about it. I'm sure if I have awful dates, they'll help me find the funny side! I read an article in the paper by a woman who decided to give it 100 dates. She didnt find love, but she did have some very funny stories to tell in her article! I wonder if there any men on this forum with an opinion on this subject? WA

You go girl! turn up the heat and get your summer body on! I always think the best photos are the most natural ones, i am a freelance photographer and i prefer photos that look natural and not posed and great photos are ones of you having fun with your fiends! keep us posted! Issy x

But all my close friends are much slimmer (and better looking) than me! I think posing with them would be the kiss of death! But I will have to get a friend to take a photo of me outside if the weather holds out for a bit longer. I just want to lose a few more pounds first. so thanks for the photographic advice Issy!

Hey Whittle, ok try black and white, it is flattering on everyone, and if your friend is taking a photo, tell her NOT to point up eg you are higher and the camera is angeling up to you, it is never a good angle for anyone, the best shots are taken from above, makes you tilt your head slightly up and prevents the awful double chin, even if you don't have one, the shadow from looking down can make you look like you have one... does that make sense? Hope the photo shoot goes well! xxx
