I drink LITERS of no added sugar Robinsons squash everyday! It's the only way I can drink water - otherwise its totally too boring for me to contemplate!! I really like the taste too - and I think its not calorific - although I do like it really strong. But at least I'm drinking water with it!

Don't want to worry you ocanada and you may already be aware of what bikercrazy said, but Aspartame is NOT good. Also Sucralose (in Splenda) is very bad. Look them up, you'll be shocked. I could give you some links but you will see for yourself very quickly. I had half known about the dangers but only checked it out quite recently and these sweetners are in everything low sugar, sugar free and lots of 'normal' food and drink. I now check all labels far more than I did. Not wishing to spread doom and gloom because nobody needs that but just wanted to make the point.

We were talking about Agave nectar before - I thought it was supposed to be brilliantly healthy? What does aspartame do? How can the put it in foods and drinks if its so dangerous? What with all the health and safety wouldnt these drinks companies be forced to put warnings on their bottles, like they do on packets of cigarettes? How bad are we actually talking here?

We are talking bad, there's something like 90 health problems connected to Aspartame and other sweeteners and there have been many warnings on the net. I'm not alone in having no faith in the 'powers that be' to ensure public safety is paramount, I'm afraid we are all somewhat naive in thinking (trusting) that the 'Government' would issue warnings, not so, this is big business we are talking and the manufacturers are giving us what we ask for afterall, sugar free products, safety goes out the window !! it's not in the 'powers that be's' interest to ban these products and I sense Isabella knows what I mean, she's right we are being conned, and not for the first time by a long way. It's been going on for years, the big companies hold us back because better safer products could be developed but that means investing more money and as long as 'joe public' is happy to play along they will continue. Let's face it we should all be driving electric cars by this century but that would mean huge companies would collapse! Wow, sorry, big rant over !! soap box back in the cupboard !!

Just to answer your question Whittle sorry I got carried away a bit ! When it comes to fags and booze as we all know the Government receives millions in revenue from these companies so although they issue health warnings they do not and cannot ban them. The thing is people who smoke and drink make the choice knowing the dangers and it's just accepted. But when it comes to food and non alcoholic drinks issuing warnings would be suicidal, no-one would buy anything !! would you ? There are statements such as 'as part of a calorie controlled diet' and the advice to parents such as 'too many sugary drinks etc' but there are no real scary warnings on food packaging. Many people believe the Government conspire to deceive us or turn a blind eye at the very least.

OMG, I drink so much of the stuff, I thought I was doing a good thing because I was drinking so much water! I've still got a quarter of the bottle left, but now I'm too scared to finish it! I looked at the label and it says it contains 'Naturally occurring sugars' but the is aspartame clearly labeled in the ingredients. And quite high up on the list which means that there must be lots of it in there. I can't believe how obsessive I am about health - I'm the one with tamiflu at my finger tips just in case! - and yet I'm pouring this gunk into me. I've been so stupid. Actually, I take that back after what Jen said, it's just that I've been hoodwinked by the manufacturers. Pure water only from now on!

I'm sorry to have been so brutally honest I do tend to rant on these days, but if I feel it's justified I have to say what's on my mind. Please check it out for yourself and I'm sure you'll reach a similar conclusion. Night night, Jen xx

I commend you jen , because there are not a lot of places you can get proper truth unless you trawl the internet. I realluy do look at the labels on things and if there is anything that doesn't sound natural, i pass... I always get updates from a certain website regarding additives and what the doctors and food manufacturers don't tell us. It's shocking and down right aggrivating sometimes! Issy x
