Hi there,

Not sure why but my scalp suddenly just started burning.  I am 23 and have hairloss as well.  My hair seems to fall out easily.  The burning sensation last for a few minutes at a time.  It comes and goes at random.  I am concerned what is causing this and is it related to my hair loss.  I am only 23 and have receding hair line with some thinning on top.  I went to a dermatologist and she put me on propecia for the hair loss.  I also took a blood test and said my iron was low.  But other then that I my blood was normal.  Is it possible they ran certain tests on my blood and not others which maybe why I am misdiagnosed.  I have a follow up in late july.  I didnt have this burning sensation before i went to see my doc.  And my burning scalp is not a symptom of propecia.  Any ideas to what this could be? A disease? Theres indication of burning when looking at my sclap.

Should I stop Propecia to see if it is the cause?

Any advice would be great.

Bernard.

Hi Bernard,

Joey here, I have been on Propecia for a long time so know a lot about it and do trust it is working as i actually have the results on top of my head!

I know you are on it also but as you say you are suffering from other symptoms not associated with propecia.

From my point of view as a long term user i suggest that you are something from something else. I have heard of people suffering from hair loss due to stress so you have to make sure that you try and rid your life from stressful things as much as possible or even try relaxation techniques such as meditation and or massage etc.

While I am not a doctor, I still would not recommend going off Propecia as you do not want your hair loss to get any less.

If your dermatologist suggests you are low in iron, why not try supplements and or eating differently.  Healthy is always better!

If you need any more help, or advice on anything i am around, will do my best to help!
Joey

Joey,

Very kind of you to give me some advice.  I have been told to try not to stress out and it seems that I am stressing out even more than before.

I don't want to stop taking Propecia.  It is the only thing that was helping me not look like a 40 year old in my 20s.  I do need to go and see my dermatologist again to get further advice. As the burning is not a side effect of Prop.

So how long have you been on Propecia? Did you have any side effects at all?
