Ive got a great mate who's balding at the crown. I mentioned trying
propecia and he looked at me like I was insane! I told him I've been using
it for months and that I've seen some real improvement, but he's scared
of taking meds. I felt a bit like a pusher, but when there are meds out
there to help I cant understand why people would choose to suffer
without them? Weird.

thing is though,

is your buddy concious about the balding spot? if he isn't bothered then i guess you don't need to persuade him. I would rather do something about it (and do) so find it weird also, but then again i was super concious about my thinning hair.

He's really embarrassed about it though! He's just afraid to take meds.
He's a bit of a hippy really. Unfortunately - without the long flowing hair!
But it's his head, his body.

I have a friend who is balding worse than me and he is bothered about it. I told him about propecia and when he went to see his doctor he convinced him not to take it and said his hair would probably not get any worse, which is total bull as hes only 21 and is losing hair quickly. I think i know more about hair loss than a GP. I do kinda wish i was not so conscious about it tho, its nothing to be ashamed of, it just really bothers some people, myself included

Docs seem to be really wary of prescribing propecia to young people
under 21  because of the effects on hormones.

But it doesnt make sense to me because by that point you're way past
puberty. And supposedly propecia works best when the hair loss is
caught early.

I think you're friend should see a different doctor and start treating it
right away.

it's pretty black and white, if your friend is concious about it but won't do anything about it, you can't persuade him..

Any yes it is right if you start taking propecia before it's too late, you can get great results!

My mate has started taking Propecia now since I wrote that first post. It's
only been a month, but he's excited about it. It doesnt really fit into his
hippy philosophy, so he hasn't told his girlfriend he's taking them!
But I hope he sees some results soon, or he'll blame me for getting him
started!
Cheers,
P
