Well id just like to give some advice from the mistakes i made, tho iv only been losing hair for 2 years i feel iv learnt some lessons 1. Doctors would not advise me Propecia or Minoxidil, i had to tell them i wanted a prescription of Propecia before they told me about any drug that would help hair loss. The first doctor i saw just put hair loss down to stress and sent me away. This was about 15 months ago, if i had been told about Propecia then i may be in a better way now. 2. Buck an appointment with a Trychologist when first having any hair loss problems. I had itchy inflamed scalp, and a Trychologist told me i had Dermatitis, she gave me some cream and shampoo and it seems to be clearing up, also may be a coincidence but Propecia only seemed to start workin when i had my Dermatitis under control 3. Educate yourself on hairloss, it makes reasons for your hair loss, products, shedding, scalp conditions all so much easier to understand 4. Stick to the FDA approved products first. Which are Propecia and Minoxidil only, and the Hair Max Laser Comb is cleared for SAFETY only. I have spent lots of time and money on silly unproven products that just dont work. 99% of products on the internet are bogus. 5. Be patient and take 1 medication at a time and give it time to work. This will let you know what is causing any side effects (if any) and also save time and money 6. Take pictures. Going through sheds and looking in mirrors in bad light can make you think your losing ground even if your improving, but pictures will always let you know how your really doing. 7. Shedding. Try not to let shedding scare you to much, sometimes this can be a good sign, out with the old in with the new. And remember its normal to shed 50 - 100 hairs per day even if your not balding, its how it grows back that is the main concern. 8. I know this can be hard, but dont let hair loss take over your life. Stick to a product and try not to think to much about it until you have gone through the recommended amount of time given to see improvement. Looking in mirrors all the time and counting hair fall can be really disheartening. I used to always look in the mirror, got really worried and stopped going out, but at the end of the day nobody gives a damn about your hair apart from you, confidence is the key. So thats about it from me for now. Any advice from anybody else?

That's some awesome advice there. i have to agree. the doctors are not keen on simply prescibing propecia, I get it on here and makes life so much easier. Mikey

Im an experienced hair sufferer toby. Ive been getting propecia on here for six months now, but there are other things that you should do as preventative measures...like keeping your hair short. Sounds obvious I know, but longer hair puts more stress on the hair follicles, and you'll lose more hair as a result. Shorter hair also makes it easier to keep your scalp clean which is good for your hair. Also there are some shampoos that are worth looking at for their organic/essential oil benefits. You should really wash your hair regularly (which goes against what you'd think I know!) and making sure that you rinse it well. Also ensure that products you may apply to your hair are in between shampoos - such as mousse, or cream - are completely removed when you wash your hair.

Only if your loosing hair from a pretty serious vitamin deficiancy. Tho Iv heard that eating foods high in protien can have a cosmetic affect. If you was balding it would most likely be MPB but a healthy diet and lifestyle can go a long way, and being fit and healthy can only aid to the affects of taking treatment in my opinion

I found this out, foods that help promote hair growth as well as taking Propecia. * Protein: liver, brewer's yeast, fish, eggs, beans, cottage cheese, yogurt, tofu. * Iron: liver, whole grain cereals, dark green leafy vegetables, eggs, dates, raisins. * B Vitamins: eggs, meat, poultry. * Essential Fatty Acids: walnuts, canola oil, fish, soy. * Vitamin E: avocados, nuts, seeds, olive oil. * Sulfur: meats, fish, nuts, legumes, vegetables (especially onions).

Oh and thanks pod, Il have a look into that. I use an anti dandruff shampoo called t gel for sensitive scalp, and another called nizoral every 3 days, keeps dandruff and itching away and makes my hair look nice and shiny, there's reports that nizoral is affective when used with a drug like propecia in helping against MPB

Thanks for that smitty. I have to say since I started to try and fight hairloss I have started a very healthy balanced diet and do eat allmost everything on that list through the week, including protein, cottage cheese, veg, avacado and cereals etc. I also eat less junk and drink less. Though I don't believe it would help fight dht maybe it is helping with the improvement of appearance.

Thanks guys I think that's great advice there. I wish I'd been taking photos of my hair since I started with the propecia - its a really good idea. I've been using it for over half a year now, but I'll just start taking some pics now anyway. I've noticed some real improvements - it feels thicker and the hair line looks healthier. And I totally agree with feeding the scalp from within - you are what you etc. And I've been eating healthy proteins and good oils. It's got to help. Are you guys noticing a real difference? Cheers, P
