I have been taking propecia for a period of 2 years with great results; my hair grew back which made me really confident. I just have a little problem, ever since I started taking propecia, I got a massive allergy on my face, and it was kind of bad. I used to get red and swollen, but I didn’t want to stop taking propecia, so I kept taking it and after a while the allergy went away. Unfortunately, my allergy came back badly which means that I really have to give up propecia. If I stop taking it, will I lose my hair again?

Yes, you will slowly loose any benefits propecia created over time if you discontinue. Are you sure it's from propecia? You should go see your GP. Some doctors recommend cutting down the dose, but you may still loose the benefits

Ive been taking it for a year now. Is that true that once I have the hair I want if I stop taking it, itll fall out again? I was never sure about that. But it would be good to know for sure. Cheers P

Yes is it is I'm sorry to say. Hair loss is caused by dht and propecia only lowers the dht so long as you take it, which is why you must take a pill each day. If you stop taking propecia the higher amounts of dht will bind to the follicles and slowly start to minaturise the them again

In which case I'm never coming off propecia. At least until modern science and technology come up with something else to make hair grow back quickly..

I've been taking it for a year now as well, and just decided to quit yesterday. Well, I still have a few months of pills to go through, so maybe I'll use them up. But the potential side effects are too crazy. Probably more sensible in the long run to save all the money you would have spent on the drug for some fancy procedure instead.
