I’ve been lurking around hairloss forums for a while…I turned 20 and have experienced some temple recession, then about 4 months ago my crown started to thin. I have jet black hair at the crown which is noticeable but i shaved off the hair that was thin and i am able to have a decent looking hairline. I have been using special dermatological shampoos to help stop the progression of thinning, but I really want t to know how to stop the balding from continuing. I have thought of reasons why my hair has thinned but I will share them after someone replies.

You should definitely speak to your GP about Propecia. This medication is effective at stopping or slowing down hair loss. You sound a little distraught and I am surprised that you haven’t heard about Propecia, speak to your GP and get on it – read the side effects (hardly any – I am a user)…. --------------------------------

Propecia does definitely work - it DOES NOT REGROW THE HAIR - BUT - the medication does halt the progression of hairloss....anyone have any thoughts about topicals????

hi to reply to this discussion i would have to say no propecia does not work i spent alot of money on this product and i had great hopes for it my hairloss is totally destroying my life. noone can convince me that "ITS JUST HAIR" and "dont let it get u down". i dont want to go out, i cant look at anyone in the eye and i know im going to be alone for the rest of my life my confidence is that low when i read about propecia i truely believed that it could save me after many months on propecia my hairloss has not slowed down, in fact if anything it has increased. to top it off i mentally feel worse that i did before because my hope of help has gone maybe this is just my bad luck but in my opinion propecia is as worthless as any other gimmick

THats a shame that it doesnt work for you. It is a fantastic medication that really works. I would swear by it and I am sooo surprised that it didn't work for you - I even got regrowth. Its likely that you maybe didnt take it as prescribed or that other things in your life are affecting your hair loss...

As far as I understand Nisim is a Brand of Shampoo that neutralises DHT, a protein that lives on the surface of the scalp.....this protein is the most common cause of hair loss....i havent tried it but would be interedted to hear your experiences - i cant see it doing any harm - but im not wholly convinced of an external lotion diminshing hairloss, i think more is achieved through internal medication.....i did read your comments on Propecia and understand your concerns....dont get too down about it! In the grand scheme of things hairloss is definitely NOT the end of the world! Be Cool - CHOPPER
