what permanent damage?? I Know that propecia for some people has side effects but i also know (based on Merck Website) that if you do experience ill side effects by getting off the medication you IMMEDIATELY do not suffer any il side effects...is that what you mean??

going back to the original question - could there be permanent damage?' - I think not because once the medication, or said more preciselt, active ingredient, is removed - then that is preceisly tyhe point - i.e. that it HAS been removed therefore poses no more threat. How long did you say you have been on propecia?

I dont think that propecia causes permanent damage - because remember that it was designed to lower the size of the prostate - thats a male thing by the way - basically out of all the literature i have been reading on propecia it doesnt say anything about permanent damgage. now there are alwasy going to be side effects but that goes with the territory of taking nay form of mediation.

I am glad i found this forum as i have a question which is probably best found here. My boyfriend has been taking propecia for a few months, (at least i think it is called that, it is a green box of pills) and he is adamamant that once he stops taking this medication then we can try for a baby which we want to start doing now. My question is is there any evidence to say that we cannot have sex before a certain time, i.e. to cleanse the body of the drug which i understand is bad for a potential pregnancy. Thank YOu for all posts! Katie...(p.s. my username is only that b/c i couldnt think what to call myself when a friend at work said that term out of context!)

The national blood transfusion service require that you are off propecia for at least a month before giving blood. I would suggest you apply the same caution if you and your partner are planning to try for a baby.
