What sort of job is it? Do you have a written offer yet? If you have already started working then legally they can't force you to take a drugs test unless it's a health and safety requirement for a particular job, of which there are a few like train drivers and the military. If you agree to the test or if you've not got the job yet (in which case they can demand a test, provided they stated it as a condition of employment) they need ensure any information obtained is divulged only to people who need to know - this is protected under the Data Protection Act and the Human Rights act. They should have procedures to ensure this (which you could ask to see) In any case, prescription medications should not preclude you from getting the job.

That is somewhat worrying, I work for the railway in what is classified as a safety critical roll, it never crossed my mind that I should ask occupational health if this type of medication was restricted

Hi, Just a quick update, had a chat with one of the Doctors in our occupational health department who advised me that both Viagra and Cialis are suitable for safety critical work providing I do not suffer and visual disturbances or dizziness.

never taken it myself but i did read somewhere about the medication causing visual disturbances so i can see the concern there, but not to worry though, doesnt seem to be that common since if it were it would be more widely reported. Perhaps you ought to start another seperate thread on that for it seems to gain a lot of responses on this website
