Well here's one time that size does NOT matter! If the pill was strychnine, half a 20mg would be more than sufficient for any politician. [Why throw good money after bad?] Assuming the active ingredient of cialis is roughly evenly distributed throughout the pill, rather than being like the jam in a doughnut all at one end, and as 20mg seem to cost about the same as 10mg and if all you need is 10mg then it makes sense to me to buy 20mg and split them, thereby effectively giving you 2 doses for the price of one. How to split? Easy; any small, sharp blade. Lick up the bits! Waste not, want not!

Hi.. i bought the 20mg and got a device from Tescos pharmacy called a 'pill cutter' or splitter. You can cut the pills across or sideways. The device works really well with minimum loss of tablet. Effect wise it does depend if u cut proportionatel the almond shaped wonder pill! Its worked for me even by splitting a 20mg to 2 x 10mg approx! But I hope one day they are not so costly since lots of men like us do have this problem... I would not buy generic or non-branded tablets. So, I stick to the UK Medix suppliers version becuase it is the real Lily version.

i think the reason they give for not splitting the cialis is that you may not get a fair dose each time - ie you may not split it in the middle...i have done it many times before however and it works absolutely fine for me...Paul

There was an article about splitting pills in the press recently that stated that it is very dangerous to do so becuase the pill has an outer coating which is designed to be there since it allows the medication on the inside to dissolve once it enters the stomach....google it in google news and it ought to come up....

I guess a good reason to split the pills is because if the side effects were to be bad then at least you could half the side effects rioght?

I regularily split a 20mg into 2 x10mg (approx)and it works great not prob. I cut 'across' the tab approx a third from the fat end to make allowance for the shape. I wrap the the remaining bit in a small piece of clingfilm to help keep airtight, don't know if that makes any difference though. Might try splitting into approx 5mg some time.

Do you split them because of cost implications?

..it would be a two part development wouldn't it?...there is no use splitting if half the dose doesn't work, so once you know half a tab works, its then a 'cost' thing...right???
