OOOOhhhh - very high calories in cider (but so divine with ice on a really hot day) You'll have to run to the pub in order to burn off the extra calories before having your Magners over ice. In fact, that is such a good plan, I may run to the pub this weekend!

I don't know about certain drinks, I think it's the drinking on an empty stomach thing... we are eating less with the reds therefore there's not as much food to absorb the alcohol?! It's easy to drink the "usual" amount and have the hangover from hell - but if you've not eaten as much as "usual" then it's not surprising that your head hurts. Of course, there may be some medic person on here who can put me straight... is there something in the booze?

I think its defo something in the alcohol, wether the strength of it or ingrediants. Cause i'd eaten same amount on all days, more on day i had strongbow, which is when headache lasted for 2 days!!!! But somedays, like today drank 3 ltrs of water, and still got muggy head tonite!!!

Still strugglin on the alcohol. Had a bottle of wine Thurs coz I was off on Friday, went to see a Rock Festival in Hyde Park Friday, had a few G&T's at home last night! I lose about 4lbs Mon - Thurs and put it back on Fri / Sat / Sun. Next week - out with work Friday - Chinese buffett. Week after races at Chepstow and the Ashes Cricket in Cardiff - ARGHHH! I just need to cancel everything I'm doing and become a tee-total hermit!

i must say, your life sounds great!! but i can see why you think it wreaks havoc with your diet. the only thing you could do would be to be stricter with yourself, says she who went out saturday, had too much to drink, watched Glasto and snacked at home and had a pizza and garlic bread last night, but i DID manage to stay off the alcohol well, yesterday at least. never mind, you're doing a good job, you'll get there.

Despite my excesses I manged to lose 2lbs last week. So that's 6lbs in 2 weeks. As my target is 1lb a week for 42 weeks I'm pleased.

Kevin, well done! It's give and take - you can have a beer, but not the pork scratchings and the kebab OR you can have the kebab and no beer?! Obviously you've got it in the right balance if you've managed another 2lbs this week... keep it up lad!
