hi i started reductil about 2 months ago. so far i have lost over stone even over xmas so i was really happy with that. for me reductil also improved my health in other areas. ive been an ibs sufferer for years and have taken tablets to ease the cramps, however since i started reductil these have disappeared and my system has slowed down a bit to what is a normal digestive transit. whereas before my system was very fast, meaning lots of running to the loo sometimes. im so gutted the drug has been suspended because it hass imprved my quality of life so much. ive read some of the other forum topics and some say it might only be temporarily suspended? does anyone know if this is true and when that might be? or if there is any website to find out more info. thanks

Morning Lux, I'm glad you mentioned 'toilet habits' because I am much more 'regulated' now even after coming off reds on the 23rd Jan. I don't have IBS but would find every morning on waking or a little after I would have to run to the loo with such urgency I'm sure I would have had an accident if I couldn't get in the bathroom !! Reductil sorted that out !! and I'm ok now. I too had success on reds, losing 32lbs in 19 weeks and since then another 4lbs. I aim to lose another 18lbs. The hunger (real or imagined !)has bitten a bit which with reds was so much easier to control but I'm still eating approx 1500 cals a day and making sure each meal (3) is as appetising and filling as possible so as not to feel cheated. In the evenings I have a bit of a struggle so I have a hightlights hot choc and a Mullerlight large yogurt and maybe some fruit. Good luck on Xenical Ladyk, you are right though, it's hunger which is the real problem, hopefully the weight loss will compensate Take care Jay

hi mcw9, I know it's a real shame, I didn't have any real 'problems' either except dry mouth which I became used to and forgot about ! a bit of sleeplessness but I'm home all day now so could compensate if I wanted ( I work from home ) Reductil was the best solution for me ever, but I think I'd be a bit nervous about going back on it now. I am coping and also going to the gym and staying as active as possible (also good for preventing dementia !) Be good, Jay

It worked very well for me too. But I'm nervous of taking something the think dangerous enough to remove. Perhaps it is all a fuss over nothing and it will come back. In the meantime, I'm trying to stick to the gym and healthy eating - I had really been inspired by the weight I've lost in the last month. I'll run out of tablets soon, but I'll pretend to myself I haven't and carry on! WA

Hi Luxxx I don't think there is any further information with regard to Reds being reinstated. However, I believe some GP's (where the risk is minimal to the patient, and at the request of the patient) are considering/prescribing Reds 'off licence'. Might be worth having another chat with your GP. Good Luck! Donna x

hi jay, its good to know your system has regulated even since coming off reductil. yes will try to speak to doctor soon, although im not confident i wil be kept on the drug. i actually emailed abbott the company who manufacture the drug this was their response...Thank you for your enquiry regarding the suspension of Reductil. Unfortunately I am unable to provide any further information regarding the duration of this suspension. People who are currently taking Reductil are advised by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) to make a routine appointment with their doctor to discuss alternative measures to lose weight. I am sorry that I cannot provide a more definite answer to your question in this occasion. so no news really. good to know others were benefiting from the drug as well and not just weight lossText

Hi Luxxx, seems like you and me were the ideal candidates for Reductil. My BP was fine and the dry mouth became unnoticable to me. Main thing was the 'hunger thing' it so helped, even though I still had pangs, they were easier to control. I am coping though and it's great not to have to 'go' first thing in the morning ! Jay xx
