hey peeps Elvisfan - have you got your chromium now? Have you started them? Hope they are helping out with the cravings? MCW9 - have you taken chromium for 15 years?? wow, thats a long time. Ive been trying to find articles about them, and found this online: Chromium 200mcg Helps regulate blood sugar. Chromium is a vital trace mineral which can help the body's insulin to metabolise fat, maintain blood sugar levels and reduce sugar cravings. Chromium like iron, copper and zinc is one of 16 essential trace minerals your body needs to keep healthy and fit. In its biologically organic and active form - and the one used by Healthspan - this precious metal can help insulin metabolise fat, turn protein into muscle and convert sugar into energy. Healthspan use the highest quality form of niacin-bound Chromium called Chromium polynicotinate. This form of Chromium is at the heart of a biologically active complex called Glucose Tolerance Factor or 'GTF' which is responsible for increasing the action of insulin in the body, thereby helping to stabilise blood sugar levels. Insulin is a vital hormone produced by the pancreas which is responsible for the absorption of glucose (sugar) into the liver and into muscle cells where it is converted into energy. It is also responsible for transporting glucose inside cells and maintaining the right blood sugar and blood cholesterol levels. Hope it helps! Fi

Hi Fi, thanks for asking about the Chromium. Yes I started them last week. I don't know for absolutely certain if it's anything to do with it but I seem to be losing weight again, two pounds this week. I did say in reply to Whittle that Hoodia hadn't helped yet but now I'm confused because I've been taking both and found I'd lost two pounds this morning. I'm a bit concerned as I've had a banging head for two days, not my occasional nauseus migraine type headache this is different. I wonder if it could be related. I will look up side effects. I'm going to drop the Hoodia for now and stick to the Chromium as both are supposed to help to suppress appetite so it was silly taking both ! Jay If at first you don't succeed........

Chromium sounds like a very healthy and sensible thing to take...thanks for that post Fiona. If you think it might be wrong to take it with Hoodia, perhaps I shouldn't take it with xenical? I'll ask my doctor.. WA

I bought some Chromium yesterday, and I was told it helps to metabolise fats too. But yes, as froggy said, that it stops sweet tooth cravings - thank goodness as I have them very badly at the moment!! Froggy, I haven't joined the facebook group, because I don't want to join facebook (for various reasons) but I'm grateful that you're checking on here from time to time!! : ) WA

Hiya froggy, I've just posted the following on the discussion headed 'chromium' it seems to be working as a suppressant for me. ****************************************************** What is the Purpose of Chromium Picolinate? Chromium picolinate is used in conjunction with weight loss programs. "It's purpose is to control the appetite, preserve lean muscle mass, spare protein, and stimulate metabolism." (Http://www.west.net/-sbarb) "It aims to reduce the cravings for sweets and help the body maintain proper blood sugar levels so the typical energy level ups and downs normally associated with dieting are greatly reduced." (http://www.mindspring.com/bobatlga/shapedex.html) "Chromium picolinate works to make it easier to burn more calories every minute and to keep excess pounds off forever." (http://users.aol.com/lpvitamins/shapepls.html) "While most dieters who lose a significant amount of weight lose too much muscle and organ tissue, chromium picolinate can accelerate fat loss while helping to preserve or increase muscle." (http://www.nutrition-warehouse.com/chromium.picolinate.html). ****************************************************** There's quite a bit of bad publicity for chromium picolinate which I am taking, but it's all as yet totally unproven. Cheers, Jay

Mainly that it is carcinogenic, cancer causing, because it 'proved' to be in animal testing, it was found to have damaged the genetic material of hampster cells. Some studies say there is little chance of untoward side effects because there's no real proof but the debate apparently rages on and also it's efficacy is in question, some say there's no proof that it does any good. Have a look on the net, there isn't a straight answer but I'm finding I'm less hungry and feel ok. so it is having some effect in my case. Jay

Exactly froggy that's what I was trying to say, its only in animal testing some have come to the conclusion it could be bad but there is absolutely no proof it effects humans the same way. Elvis says - keep on taking the tablets !!
