Three years ago I was prescribed Reductil. Over the course of a year I went from 15 stone to 10 and a half (size 18 to a 10/12). Obviously I loved it and started exercising to make sure that when the inevitable happened and the pills got taken away when I was a 'normal' weight that I might be able to keep it off. Just over two years later I've packed on three stone despite exercising regularly and trying desperately to eat healthily. I'm now at the point where I have to make a decision. I can either try and find a substitute for Reductil, I see from here that there are a few out there, or I can carry on as I am being overweight (again) but still pretty fit thanks to the exercise regime. I just feel really hopeless as I've tried so hard to stick to a healthy weight and I feel I honestly have changed my eating habits to be a hell of a lot more selective in what I eat, but obviously it's impossible without the Reductil. But taking more medication (and taking a gamble with my health as I have no idea what's in them) seems foolish when I've tried hard to stay relatively healthy. Has anyone here managed to keep the weight from creeping back naturally, or are most in the same position as me?

I don’t think there are many people who are managing to keep the weight off once off the Reductil. They are trying other things I am 10 pounds heavier than I was when they were stopped in January 2010 but having taken nothing for a few months (about 9 months I think) I did put weight on. I keep taking other alternatives and they only work for a while and I went down from size 16 to size 10 - 12 and lost over 2 stones. I am still a size 12 but 10 pounds heavier than January 2010. I did lose it again around January time this year but these few pounds have creeped back up. Even at a size 12 though I am still heavy for my height and I loose half a stone and then put it back on and they yoyo commences. But at least I haven’t put on all of the 2 and half stones back on and have lost 3 pounds since last week. But like I said it comes off then goes on again no matter what I take

Hi well done for losing your weight. I lost 5.5 stone with reductil and kept it off for 2 years. However since getting married and moving I have gained 3 stone. Am trying to lose it doing the slimming world plan and trying xencial, but it doesnt seem to be helping.

Urgh, it's just impossible isn't it? I would have snapped up some Reductrim last year this time, but I'm very wary about the risks now. I really wish they would bring Reductil back, it was the only thing that has ever helped me lose weight with minimal side-effects.

2 Weeks ago I was clearing out a cupboard and found an old pack of reductil I forgot I had and the expiry date on it was 2012. I was over the moon so started taking them - and after about 8 days, I didn't lose a single pound and my appetite was huge. I couldn't understand it. So stopped taking them and went back to reductrim and lost 3 pounds. But as I said it will go back on with me so all I can hope for is not to go back to a size 16 and stay as a size 12. I do think it is because pills are designed to be used for obese people with a bmi over 29 and as I am under this but still overweight that is why they don't work like they did when I had abmi of 34

where did you buy your reductil from? I think maybe the reductil I bought could have been fake, as it looks nothing the capsules. Pls help me,I'm fed up of hiding my body. My confidence is gradually going down hill.. Thanks

Hi Natasha You can't buy Reductil any more - it was banned in this country a couple of years ago so it is not longer available. However, some people have tried Reductrim, and it has worked for them (I'm using it, and seem to be losing weight). Google Reductrim and have a look - but remember to be careful, not everything you buy online is going to be safe for you, so take care and if it looks like it's too good to be true... it probably is!

Hi Rachel Thanks for your response. I know Reductil was banned little while back, but last year I was able to get hold off it via TanLabs or Reductilbymail, either one. I did my research before hand, a lot of people mentioned that there's no difference between reductil & reductrim, same effects just named differently regarding the country it's coming from. What are you doing now to keep the pounds off, any tips? Anything else I can use which is accessible? Nat x
