Thanks Sarah,

I'll make it to that top 10 best reads yet!

So, if you're sitting comfortably, then I'll begin...

Thursday 22nd May

This week I've put on AGAIN - only 1lb, but I just don't get it?!
I'm eating 3 meals a day
breakfast - 1 slice toast & marmite
lunch - salad, bread roll, maybe a piece of meat, or quiche (splash light salad dressing)
afternoon - apple / banana
evening - proper meal (sausage egg & chips on Tuesday night)
drinks - 2 litres, at least of water
Walking, not so much this week but definitely more active than ever before

So where did this extra 1lb come from?
OK so Saturday night we had a bit of a cocktail night, but I was hoping for something off this week.

Oh well, it just means that I've got to shop even longer on Saturday - going caravan again so we'll be walking to Ingoldmells market and then spend a couple of hours looking on every stall and saying to each other "if I don't see anything else, I'll come back for it" (never do)
Sunday we're fishing for the day and Monday... OH MONDAY!
Stalybridge Splash
Now, if you're local (Kazza) you'll know that Splash is a day long even that has music, stalls and general entertainment.  Well, this year there's a "Battle of the Bands" and Wasted (my favourite rock act of the moment) are opening the set at 12 o'clock and then playing in a local pub in the evening.  I've tried to be subtle and suggest that we come home early from the caravan (so I can get housework done etc), but he's seen straight through me - maybe it's cos I was polishing my boots and ironing my Wasted Tee Shirt?!
Anyway, we've (well I'VE) decided that I'm going to walk into Stalybridge on Monday afternoon when we get home and go and see the band on Monday night (perhaps I may have a beer and a mosh, perhaps I won't)

So, this bank holiday weekend is shaping up to be one hot ticket, and if you do live local enough to get to Stalybridge, come down and have some fun.

I'll be the one with the purple doc martens and the mad headbanging hair!

Not worried about the 1lb on (even though it's 2lb in 2 weeks) - I'm going to have a fun weekend and worry about it on Tuesday.  Anyway, it'll be difficult to eat with a sore neck from the rock music so it's probably all good!

Rachel x

Hi Rachel, yes i've been to the Stalybridge Splash a couple of times, more often than not the weather has been rubbish though!  Unfortunately I won't be going on Monday as my mum and dad live in Prestatyn,Wales and we are going staying overnight. Have you got a caravan in Skegness?  I have been there a few times and last year we went to the Haven site at Mablethorpe and went to Ingoldmells market etc. I really like Skegness. Have a good day Monday if you are not too knackered walking from Hyde to Vegas as it's quite a way!! Karen x

Oh, update from earlier - I forgot to mention...

Tried on a pair of jeans today and they fastened.  OK I hear you say, pair of jeans - so what?

SO WHAT!  They were size (drum roll please) 18

yes folks, a full 5 (count them 1, 2, 3, 4, 5) sizes smaller than I was wearing in September 2007!

Now, before we have the victory parade, I have to confess to you that although they fastened, I couldn't sit down in them... but hey - they fastened! and as long as I stand and look fabulous without too much movement then I reckon I'll get away with it lol

Right, I'm off to do some packing for my dirty weekend at mother's caravan in Skeggy

Right near the Curry Cottage then, me and my other half have been there a few times for a nice meal - that's probably why the weight's so slow coming off then eh!!

Racheal,
You are a total sweetie, i started coming on this site  when i stared reductil 7 weeks ago. I have been reading your diary and just wanted to say that you are absolutley brilliant, and i love how truthful you are. You are an insperation (have big pants too and thrown them away ................. although i actually got my hubby to burn them in the coal fire so no-one would ever see them, thought they could be used for a tent ).  I just had to leave a message to let you know that i think you are doing wonderful and by god chick i hope you enjoyed your weekend, you sound like you deserve it.  Looking forward to your diary when you come back...........if your not too tired      Take Care

Jules

Hi Rachel, For the first time I have sat here and read through your diary ( always felt it was some kind of invasion of privacy before).
One question.............why weren't you on brition has talent??
You are so funny with the way you are able to word thing. I had tears running down my face with laughing so much at some of the things you put.
Can't wait for your next entry.

Thank you for your lovely words.

I'll let you into a secret... when I first started the reds I started a little notebook diary just for the usual "dry mouth, feeling a bit rubbish, eaten a whole pork pie" sort of thing.  Then I found this site and after watching for a couple of weeks I plucked up the courage to post my first entry.

Do you know what happened?  I got a response (which was a shock becuase I didn't think that anyone would read what I'd put, or be that interested in the fact that my pants were too big).  But that's the thing with this site, people do read it, they don't have to post a comment after every entry, it's not a "discussion" so doesn't need other people to interact (although I do get a kick out of the fact that someone else has read it) but everyone here  understands that wearing your trousers so low that you look like a gangsta rapper is common when you're on the reds; so I carried on writing.  My only worry was that it wouldn't be interesting to anyone other than me.

I try to keep it lighthearted if possible - but I'd like to think it's an honest diary of what's been going on in my head for the past few months (good or bad). And the fact that other people might get a smile out of it is just a real bonus!

I doubt it'll ever be a best seller and make me a million quid - let's face it everyone's read it, and anyway who would play me when they make it into a Hollywood blockbuster? Angelina Jolie? Cher? probably Angela Lansbury - she's good with a typewriter!

So there's no invasion of privacy in this diary - I have no problem with you laughing and crying with me, hey knowing that someone's enjoying my life as much as I am keeps me going!

Thursday 29th May

No loss this week (unless you call loss of pride/dignity/will to live lol) cos I've put on!

As you can probably imagine, it's not a piddly little half pound, oh no it's a whopping 4lbs this week!  Before you tell me it's hormones, I have to tell you it's not... it's cider - lots and lots of cider   !

We were supposed to be fishing on Sunday and out on the town Saturday - so on Saturday morning we got up and walked 2and1/2 miles (yep I googled the distance cos I was curious), and then had a few beers... which led into a few more and a great day out.
Sunday was horrible, really windy and no spots on the pond we wanted to fish - so we walked 2and1/2 miles and had a few beers again

Monday we came home, but not until we'd had fish and chips!

For those of you newbies who are reading this, please take note - this is NOT the way to diet and I am a seasoned professional who's body is used to years of abuse

I think I've got man flu which isn't helping either although I'm drinking loads of water to ease sore throuat and also several honey/lemon in hot water (except that I didn't have lemon juice so I'm using lime juice).  Don't really feel that hungry though?

This week I've got to sort it out - can't risk another gain next week or I may have to resort to drastic measures... kicking Phil out and eating my own cooking (upset tummy anyone!)
