Hi Rach, I am quietly convinced that you do not need the reds to continue having success, its all about, as you say, the brain training. Two weeks is probably a good time to take as a break anyway, then if you do get them again it will kick you back to the beginning of reds. I have been off them for over two months now ( i think) and have been absolutely fine. ( i did have withdrawal as well though!)I have carried around with me, since i came off them, half a packet of the 10's and half a pack of the 15's and have only had the urge once to take them again. I really dont eat any more now i am off them as I tell myself i am still on them. best of luck and all that, but you will be fine xx Ali

Thursday 19th June, You will not believe this... I've lost 3lbs! I am now just 1/2lb away from that elusive 17st mark - how on earth did that happen? I looked away from the diet for just a few days and the weight drops off I think my body is rebelling against me lol Still drinking water like it's going out of fashion, but the headaches aren't so bad today (although i wonder if it's the new specs that are giving me headaches rather than the lack of reds?) Ali, I think you're right - the two weeks off will probably do me the world of good, and although it's a bit too early to tell (they can't be out of my system that quick?) I don't want to eat the crap that I would have done in the past. My brother brought us some cakes over (he works for the cake factory) and I brought a box to work, and had a bite of Josh's Fondant Fancy last night - but didn't really want a bun so I left them there. To be honest I didn't want a bite of Josh's bun, but he was trying to show what a good son he is by sharing his food with his mother So, this weekend it's off for a walk and try to live a calmer healthier life... Yeah Right! More next week x x x

Tuesday 24th June I've been off the reds for a full week and I don't think I've noticed much of a change from being on them. I know that sounds silly, but I still get that full feeling, and I'm drinking 2 litres of water each day (at least). Also I'm back to keeping the food diary so that I can track where I go wrong. My BP is is still bad, but I've had a strange weekend (you probably think I make this up, but I swear this really is my life!) My 19 year old daughter decided she was moving out this weekend - after a bit of an argument about something and nothing. Anyway, I was in bits about it and unable to face food on Saturday. My BP was horrendous (150/100 or such like) so I knew that I was in trouble. I went to my mom's - who has a water infection and has taken to her bed in pain. I convinced her to see the doctor at the hospital (how... god only knows) and got her some antibiotics. Sunday, daughter came home, and the BP has been slowly getting lower since then. Bloody families! I'm feeling pretty good though, all things considered, and I think I've made up my mind about the reds and the possibility of Xenical. If I don't get the reds next week, I'm not going to take the Xenical right now. I'm going to ask if I can come off the reds for 2 or 3 months, try to keep my weight down myself, and when my bp is down I'll ask to go back on them. I decided this in the shower this morning, so it's not totally thought through. I think that if I can be allowed the option of returning to the reds when my bp is down then it might be easier to maintain/lose on my own for a couple of months. Also, I've got to come off them eventually (can't stay on pills for the rest of my life) so perhaps it's not such a daft idea to see how I can live without them. I didn't think I'd last this long without them but I'm feeling great, so maybe it's time?! Anyway, it's just an idea - and if I put on this week I'll change my mind again and will be popping Xenical like it's going out of fashion

Hi Rach, you do make me laugh. You have this amazing way of putting everything you say into a funny context. You must be going through a tough time with your D, hope it works out... Ive also in recent weeks thought about a month or two of xenical, they werent that bad for me ( will see how my boss would feel about giving me my own bathroom though-make that in my office, when it starts it starts!!!)just to get this last stone and 1/2 off. Tempting but I am worried I will eat more fatty foods to make the damn things work!!! So no, will perserve alone (im such a marter!)for a while and see how it goes. I need to take my own advice up a notch first!! Hope you are ok... Ali x

Well done you, having taken Xenical before getting the reds (my doctor felt Xenical should be the first option) I'd try harder at keeping it off yourself, unless you don't ever have to leave the house and you can spend your day running in and out of the loo!!!

libby, you must have me mistaken... I'm no Lady lol! That photo was taken by my brother on my phone, and we were having such a great time telling rubbish made up jokes and laughing at daft things "which author has the frothiest lager? - William Shakes-beer" Bad aint it... still it made us laugh for about an hour! You are right about determined though. I'm on the long path and I've already come part of the way so it'd be daft turning around now.

Hi Rachel, You are an increible writer! Sorry about your BP. Families, eh? make your blood boil, literally! (I am an expert on boiling blood families, I am Italian after all!) I am sure that you will continue losing weight on and off the reds. The reds are crutches and you don't need the crutches to walk - you are doing so well (and you look great!). We are all rooting for you. Wishing you allt he best, Love, Marianne

Thursday 26th June Thank you for all your support - I COULD NOT have done this without you to lean on! Well, you won't believe it... drum roll.... I've lost 3/4lb this week - which takes me UNDER 17STONE - OK so it's only 1/4 under, but it's still under. I am so happy, and I wanted to share before I started work! I'll catch up later - for now I just wanted to tell you all my good news.

OK, so here's what's been happening this week. Krynn has been at my mom's since Monday - mom not at all well so she's been over there "granny sitting". It gave me chance to tidy her room! Now before you go jumping on me for tidying the room of my 19 year old daughter let me explain/justify myself... Her room is quite large, but extremely cluttered and clothes either live on the bed or the floor. It's doing my head in! So, Monday evening I spent 1 hour tidying... then Tuesday another hour... then Wednesday I bought her some drawers and a bookcase and spent another hour filling the drawers, tonight I filled the bookcase and it looks really good. Sort of bedsit, but with everything tidy and put away. Now, the food thing - well I'm eating healthy, and just drinking loads of water, but I'm really pleased that I've lost again this week. It has definitely strengthened my resolve to not take the Xenical but to carry on alone (well with the help of you lot!) until such time I can safely take the reds again. Well, I'm off out on Saturday - Wasted play so it's the mosh-pit for me (must remember to google calories burned moshing lol) I see the nurse next Wed for the results of my BP and blood tests so I'll keep you updated then!
