Saturday 2nd May 2009 It's been a funny old week, the weather has been lousy so I've taken the car to work every day. I really need it to stay nice so I can walk (I know I should do it for the sake of exercise, but it's so much nicer walking when it's not piddling down). Anyway, I got back on the scales this week - Monday I'd lost 4lb from the Sunday afternoon weigh in (told you it was the lamb) and I've lost half a pound to Thursday so I'm back under 18stone which I'm pleased about. If I want the reds again, I've got to get to 16stone - but to be honest if I could get to 16stone then I wouldn't need the reds! We were supposed to be going to my mom's this weekend, but we cried off so instead we are going to walk the 2.6 mile round trip to the local town centre on Sunday morning to buy toothpaste. Yes I know I could buy it locally from the supermarket, but it's cheaper in the £1 shop and the exercise isn't going to hurt either. Next week, I'm going to try and overcome my fear of the rain and walk to work. Right, now it gives me ENORMOUS pleasure updating my ticker with a loss :D

Hi Rachel Been ages since I was on here. Decided to see how everybody was doing and was glad to see you were around. I am on reds again, my doctor says recent trials have shown positive results to being on reds long term. I was surprised by that as I found I was reverting to previous eating habits whilst on them toward the 8 month mark. They are working again, but not with such stunning results. Decided to do something about the exercise aspect and I am starting with coaching a children's netball team. Or I hope to be taking them if my back is better soon. Baby steps hey. Happy walking. I'm with you on the rain aversion front. Don't seem natural to have water soaking you head to toe outside of a shower or bath. Bye Sue

Saturday 9th May I daren't get weighed as I know that I'm bad, but I can't bring myself to be good - so it's either poke out my eyes or chuck the scales in the bin... although if the eyes go then I won't have to worry about how I look so I'm seeing an argument for keeping the scales and losing the eyes! On a more positive note, I've walked to work and back once this week (Friday) which is 4 miles round trip. I wasn't out of breath but my calves ached. It took me 50 minutes to go the 2 miles to work - it's uphill for the last mile and the hill is a bit deceiving when you're walking up it. Anyway, the plan was to walk as far as possible then get the bus for the rest of the way. This was a great plan until I realised that although it was a mile and uphill, it was only 3 bus stops... I was too embarrassed to get on the bus for 3 stops - so I walked there. Coming back, same problem - it's only about 6 stops in total so if I've already walked halfway it's a bit shameful to go only 3 stops... so walking it was. Today, we decided to walk to Ashton (local town centre) and have some breakfast. It's all downhill from where I am so it's a piece of cake to walk. Me and Phil had our breakfast and a walk around the market then decided to use our busfare as beer money. So, we had a couple of drinks (I'm back on a half, not a pint) and walked back home - uphill! In total, over the past 2 days I've intentionally walked about 7 miles and I feel tired and achey but pretty damn fine. Monday, we both have the day off work, so we are going to walk to Ashton again (Phil dropped his phone in the loo so it has to go to the shop for repair). Friday I'm going to walk to work again - it could be my new thing.... if the weather holds!

Hi Rach! I like you am back on track starting today!!! I have been off reds since january ( My hair was thinning and periods every 2 weeks)Had 5 months off and been back to the docs and got some reds to try again. Weight wise not too bad only put 3lb on in the 5 months. Paul has had a big shoulder op so he hasn't been training and has put on too, so we are going to do it together (diet that is lol) Good luck with your new start. xxx ali

Thursday 28th May I've tried, and I've failed - so I'm biting the bullet and going back to the doctors today to ask for help. It's a bit upsetting as I didn't want to go back, but I know that my eating is starting to spiral again - even with the extra walking, I'm putting weight on (can feel it in my clothes) If I have to swallow my pride and take the Xenical I will do, as I don't know if the doc will give me the reds again? I'll let you know how I go on later....

Yeeeaaahhhh Welcome back Rach!! I had a 5 month break and I am back on them now. I put 3lb on in the 5 months, got the reds then went to mallorca the same week so didn't take the reds. Put 4lb on in mallorca and on the day back started the reds. Hope the doc understands if I go back and it only looks like I have lost 3lb or something that I gained before I started taking them again . xxx ali

Friday 29th May I don't usually post daily - but today is the first day of my 2nd leg (of Reds) I took my first tablet about an hour ago, and am just sat at my desk eating my breakfast. I say eating... I don't know if it's psychological, but I don't want the cereals. I poured myself about half a bowl (compared to yesterday) and although I'm eating it, it's taking forever... although I'm typing and trying to eat so maybe that's the reason Doh Thanks Ali and Libby for the welcome back! The doc said that with my BMI of 41 I could be a candidate for gastric band surgery... I want to give the reds a chance first - I've got a target of half a stone, then another half etc! I had my final blow out last night, a couple of bottles of beer, a bag of pork scratchings and a chip butty for supper (had been out), but now I'm stocked up on water bottles and my trainers are ready for the walk to work next week! Well it's taken me 15 minutes to eat a bowl of cereal, at this rate, it'll be lunchtime and I will have just finished breakfast!

later that day... No Fair! We've been invited out tonight, for food and drinks at a friends place - except that I've started the reds again and I'm trying soooo hard to be good I'm going to drive (no alcohol) and keep drinking plenty of water - not so much food I'll let you know how it goes, because tomorrow night I'm going to a gig and there will be beer!
