Monday

OK, so I've had an awesome weekend - not drinking on
Friday and then out on Saturday and Sunday (and had
beer / curry)

This morning, I made myself a salad for lunch, took
some natural yoghurt with a chopped up banana, and an
orange to work.  It's not 1.45 and although I've eaten
my breakfast and lunch, I'm not hungry.

I don't know if it's just psychological, but I feel as
though I've got a really dry mouth and can't stop
drinking.  I'm drinking lemon squash as though it's
going out of fashion.  Perhaps that's why I'm not
hungry - full up with liquids

No more booze for me after this weekend - see how that
helps the weightloss over the next couple of weeks!

Hi Rach,
The first time I was on reds they seemed to work straight away, with in a day. This time around it has taken 2 weeks for them to feel like they are working. Just got a chineese (treat with the money from the gold) for me and alice and I have only had a bit and can't be bothered eating it, I just feel full, hardly eaten today either, don't know if the heat has anything to do with it

Hi Ali,

I think you could be right, the weather does seem to
have an effect on eating... it's too hot so I don't
wanna eat (or so that's the theory!)

GG

Lemon squash, because I like it - I do drink water, I
just wanted something I could glug.  I used to drink
water with lemon juice in it, but now I buy zero
calorie squash and drink loads of juice.  I know I
should drink more water, but I know that I'm drinking
2-3 litres of fluid so I'm not too worried.

One thing I am worried about though... My BP!
Where about on the arm should the cuff go?  It seems
to make a big difference if it's lower on my arm than
when it's almost under my armpit!  Higher on the arm,
lower the bp?! Or maybe it's just that I was calmer
when sat in the sun this afternoon and took my bp.

I'm getting rid of my husband tonight for 2 weeks -
he's going to the Isle of Man with my dad and my
uncle.  I'm staying at home with the kids (20 & 18 yr
old) and my Mom... prizes for guessing who's the
biggest kid of the three of them lol

Eating 3 meals a day, drinking loads, sitting in the
sun - life is pretty good right now

Tuesday 8th June

How good am I?

Went to caravan with my mom for the weekend, and on
Friday AND Saturday we went to the pub... and I drank
a total of Wait for it 1 measure of Baileys and
1 vodka with grapefruit juice!  As for food, I had 3
meals a day, no snacking, and drank gallons of water.
We also walked a couple of miles on Saturday around
the market.  It took forever because mom can't walk
far without stopping (I know how that feels so I walk
at her pace) but she managed the walking.

Me, I could have walked it again but there was no way
I could get my mother to take another step!

I mention the alcohol because I would normally drink,
but this week after losing 5lbs I decided that I'd
rather spend the money on a good meal and buy the kids
something - so I did.

It's now Tuesday, and although I had some chocolate
last night as a treat, I'm still on 3 meals a day and
feeling quite satisfied.

Tonight I made a chicken curry with rice and nan bread
- I had half and half is for Josh.  On a normal day
I'd eat mine, then dip into his until I'd finished it
and had to make him something else.. but not today.

Generally I'm feeling really positive about
everything, and I'm sure the reds have kicked in with
a vengeance cos I'm drinking loads and have more
energy all around.

I'm at a 40th this weekend and there will be wine and
cake (I'm probably driving) which just leaves the cake
to fight off!

Hi Rach,
I've been reading some of your posts and your quite an inspiration, aren't you!

My names Claire and I've started Reds today, so far everythings ok. I feel a little spaced out & weird but thats no more than usual!!

My Reds seam to be working all ready.
I've had bowl of cereal, ham and philidelphia light sandwhich, half a yogurt and a large bananna and I really had to make an effort to eat these.

I alwas get cravings this time of day between lunch and dinner, but nothing so far. Mind you the kids did have a sweetie after school and I did contemplate having one too but then realised if i did have one it would be just out of habit, so I said no and I don't feel deprived.

WooHoo!!
Anyway glad to meet you guys, Claire xxx

It's now or never!!!

Hey Claire - thanks for saying I'm an inspiration (I'm
really NOT though)

It's funny what you say about the sweets - habit is a
terrible thing to change... I always have a biscuit
with my tea so I'll have one now, even though I don't
want the tea or the buscuit!

I'm like a small child - if I don't see it, I don't
want it... but put it in front of me and I want it
NOW!  The reds have helped with that most of all, now
I can look at a bar of chocolate or a bag of crisps
and not want to demolish the full pack.

There are lots of new people on here (from when I
started) but I remember the advice I got; which I'm
going to share with you.....

Drink lots of water and to avoid the constipation try
bran on your breakfast, Oh and most importantly -
don't forget to eat regularly.

Other than that, just enjoy each day and if you fancy
a treat, have one - it's a long haul to getting the
weight off and if you don't treat yourself to
something nice (be it a new pair of pants or a
chocolate bar once a week) then it will seem like an
eternity.

Me, I'm going to treat myself to a long bath later -
well I did clean the bathroom so I think I deserve it
:)

Hi Madcuff

I have to agree you are an inspiration and talk a lot of sense! Ive been on reds for 2 weeks now and lost 4lb the first week but dont seem to have lost anything this week, the thing is i haven't done anything different this week, so cant understand why? Im joining the Gym tomorrow so hoping that will make the weight loss easier. Wish me luck xx

Hey Kel - two weeks isn't that long really, and they
do say the first week is down to water loss (or
something like that)

Joining a gym is a good plan - which I will eventually
follow - and remember that muscle weighs more than fat
so don't be too down on yourself if you start
exercising like Mr Motivator and not losing weight...
when you look in the mirror one morning and see Rambo
staring back at you, you've either got a very odd
stalker or the gym is paying off!

Wish you luck.... OF COURSE!

I'm just going to take it half a stone at a time -
ideally if i can get 3 stone off like last year, and
keep it off, I'd be happy.  Medically I have to lose
an arm and two legs worth of weight, but I'm realistic
to know that's not going to happen (short of some
hideous accident with a chain saw)

My BP is the problem as I know that I struggle when I
have to go for the weigh ins, so I'm taking my own
each day to show Lorraine (nurse) when I go back in 2
weeks.

I think I lost 5lbs first week, and if I've lost even
1lb this week I'll be happy.  The other problem is my
scales - in the space of 30 seconds and six inches I
lost 4lbs so perhaps weighing myself at home is not a
good thing.  Funnily enough though, I've been able to
keep off the scales this time - maybe because I've
still got to hit the weight that I finished the reds
and until then I'm not totally happy with myself (if
you know what I mean)!

I'm pretty sure they've kicked in though - I eat my
meals and don't think about snacking, and I'm drinking
on average 3 litres of water a day.

I'm out tonight for an hour, but I think I'll drive
cos I'm not bothered about a beer (and I'm out all
weekend with various people).

I do feel more energetic though - Phil is away and
since coming back on Monday I've...
Cleaned the living room window (in and out)
Cleaned the bathroom and done the ironing
Emptied and cleaned the fridge

I don't know if it's cos I'm missing him and am bored,
or that I've found some new level of domestic energy!

Tomorrow is my unofficial weigh day, so I may get the
scales out and take the lowest weight in the bathroom!
haha
