I'm chuffed to bits - all I have to do now is keep it off and make sure there's more gone next month... what's that saying about pride and fall?

Hi Shell, I'm in Dukinfield - so only 20 minutes away from Oldham by car (an hour if you walk to Ashton then get the bus). I do like Oldham, it has a pretty good market, and Primark - which is always a bonus for cheap tights (£1.00 for 2 pairs fishnets... bargain)

Thursday 25th June It must be the weather - I was awake at about 6am this morning and was contemplating the best way to get my new prescription from the doctor's. Should I walk to work then take the car later, or should I take the car to work (but no walking?) Oh I should point out that it's all downhill to the doctor's - so UPHILL to get home! Anyway after trying to go back to sleep, it struck me that I could walk to the doctor's and then get two buses (no direct bus) from docs to work. I left the house at 7.45 as I wasn't sure how long it would take me to walk, got to docs and had to wait but at 8.30 I got my prescription. OK, so far so good, so I started walking back towards the bus stop - then just carried on walking. It took me just over an hour to walk the 2 and 1/2 miles round trip from home to the docs and back to my usual work bus stop (including 20 minute wait for doctor's to open). I wasn't overly tired - in fact I feel pretty good. I have a 2 mile walk home and a Ribena lolly to look forward to. I've not walked so much in years, but I'm really enjoying it - and apart from the 75p Ribena treat it's free exercise (woo hoo)! I just hope this weather holds cos I don't fancy walking in the rain!

Friday 26th June I'm trying not to post every day, but I'm on such a high at the moment. My weekly weigh in resulted in me dropping 8lbs this week (but I did put on 3 last week and didn't update my ticker). My BMI is now under 40 (again) but this time I plan for it to stay that way! I'm still walking to and from work and last night I went to the pub and drank soda water all night - just didn't fancy a beer. I was up at the crack of dawn again and am just getting ready to leave for work. One good thing about the walking... my face is getting some sun for a change and I'm a lovely shade of off white now!

Monday Evening I did go out on Saturday night, and had a really good time - I drank but didn't have the same hangover problems as last time (did drink a lot less!) Sunday we walked to market, but I was beat so we cheated and got the bus back up the hill! Today I had to take some boxes to work so I was forced to take the car - I missed the walk if I'm honest. I'm not back in work until Wednesday now, so I'm going to get my ironing done tomorrow and have a walk around the second hand market for an hour. Felt really hungry today - I know it's raging hormones and instead of giving in and having a chip butty for supper (like last night) I had 2 sticks of celery... which is good for me! I've made myself a promise that I'm only going to drink on Saturday and only every other Saturday (so nothing not until weekend of 10th July) Bedtime now, it's glorious weather but I'm shattered - sleep in this heat... no chance

Friday 03 July My scales are showing another loss this week of 2lb - which I have to admit I'm pleased with. I think now my overall loss since re-starting the reds is around a stone. Still feeling pretty pleased with life in general and still unable to justify getting in the car for work when it's not raining - 3 days I've walked this week (although yesterday I did cheat and get the bus part way home) No booze this weekend - I made myself a promise and I plan to stick to it - got a crazy weekend coming up next week (day out with the girls on Friday), gig on Saturday, recovery on Sunday! Right, I'm packing up my bottle of water and heading to work
