Thursday 24th January

I've lost 2lbs this week - which I'm pleased about as it takes me to 35lbs, 2 and a half stone, 17 and a half bags of sugar, or one large turkey!

I had my doctor's appointment this week too, and saw the nurse for the first time (doctor says i don't need to see him any more, so I'm guessing he must be happy with my progress?)
When I was weighed it was almost no difference to last month... OH OH - I told Lorraine that by my scales I'd only lost 5lbs, but I was still happy with it as I'd put on at Christmas. Her response was "we don't count Christmas" so that was good news.
My BP was up slightly, but that's just the reds (and I was nervous about seeing nurse, don't know why).

I talked at 100 miles an hour about how I wasn't worrried about the slight loss, and that I've got a long way to go, and how I'm drinking gallons of water every day... basically a potted history of the past 3 months in 20 seconds lol

Don't know if she thought I crazy, but she did say I had a very positive attitude to the reds and she'd see me next month!

Then today, another two pounds off... Whooo Hooo

Week at Work
As part of my New Years Resolutions I was going to try and make an effort every day, so this week I've got myself ready with Max Factor foundation and the most gorgeous red lippy.
Lisa told me I looked really pretty in the lippy - don't know if she was tyring to tell me I'm ugly without it   and Rose asked me if I was unwell as I looked really pale.
So next week, it's back to the balaclava for work I think lol

Then tonight, the nicest thing happened - a message was left for me by Humpty saying how well I was looking on my new picture.  I think she's just angling for a 25% share of the book profits (she's gonna get it!)

Sunday 27th Jan

I know I don't usually write during the week in my diary, but I want to tell you about last night; well the weekend in general really?!

Friday I left my reds at work, which is 20 miles away from home so I thought "I'll try to manage without them".

I went to stay with my mom on Friday night and ended up going out with my sis-in-law for a drink and a catch up cos it's been ages since we were together.  Now usually we are real beer monsters and can manage a bottle of vodka between us, after a few pints! Well Friday night I didn't go mad, I had two pints of soda/blackcurrant, half lager and a small port oh and a fantastic night out!

Saturday I didn't eat everything in sight, in fact missed breakfast (naughty) and had the worst fish/chips in history.  They were still repeating on me at tea time so I didn't have anything then.  Sat night Phil and I went out with another couple and it was the first real night out since I started the reds.  I did have a drink, well several really, but I wasn't drinking like my life depended on it (and I'd had 1 and 1/2 litres of flavoured water before I went out).  I took it steady, and then it happened....

We went into a late bar and the music was banging and there I was DANCING.  Oh man, it was amazing!  The music was all sorts of 70's/80's stuff (Kelly Marie / Barry White etc) and I was there on the dance floor waving my arms around and shaking my ass like an audition for pans people    By the end of the night I was so hot that I looked like I'd been out in the rain.  Now this may not sound like much, but I am the one who can dance to one song, then has to sit down for 20 mins while paramedics bring me oxygen.
Towards the end of the night, the bar sells bottles only... so I had a bottle of water!

On the way home we had chicken and chips, which were delicious in the way that kebab is delicious after a night out.  Bedtime at around 2.30 still feeling great - I even took my makeup off and moisturised before bed

This morning I got on the scales to see what the damage was - 2lbs off and no hangover!

I know that the 2lbs was lost in dehydration and will go back on as I drink today, but I think I'm learning that I've got nothing to fear.  As long as I try to be sensible (OH OH) and don't drink like it's going out fashion then I can have a good time.  As for the dancing, well I'm going to do more - it was part of my New Year's Resolution list and I think this is one that I might keep this year

So, considering this weekend could have been so bad without the reds I'm not feeling as bad as I thought I would.  Yes I know they are in my system and when I leave them it will be a different story, but just for now I hope that I'm starting to learn something about myself that I can take with me later?

Now I'm off to "play that funky music white boy"

Monday 28th January - BOOK

Right, I've decided that I'm going to try writing that book!  I don't think it'll ever go anywhere, but as I'm nearing my "mid life crisis" I think I should be re-evaluating my life and doing something reckless and/or stupid.  I can't find a skydiving class, so writing it is!

It's going to take months as I want it to be a real account of what's going on as I go through it.

As you've all already read what will be my book I know that i've lost at least 6 or 7 potential book sales lol

Actually, I doubt that I'll finish it let alone ever send it anywhere (I can't handle rejection so it'll sit there for years).

What I do want to say is that if (and it's the biggest IF) I get my act together and do this, wouuld you mind if I talked about you all?  I know it might sound daft, but some of my diary posts make no sense if you just take my side of the conversation, and if I'm going to do this I want to do it properly.

Also, I can't do this alone (and never could have done) - I'd have failed miserably without the wisdom of Jelly, Debzharry, Skinny etc

I can't believe I'm actually considering this (it's all Humpty's fault.... it was her idea!)

I am in LOVE

I don't know if I've mentioned it, but I love dancing... Anyway a couple of weeks ago I was watching tv (500 channels and all of them pants!)  I'd obviously clicked on the wrong thing because I was sat watching the JML channel and wondering if I should get myself some JML tweezers with a light - you never know when you want to pluck your eyebrows at the cinema!

So I'm flicking through the channels and come across a rather cute guy dancing and telling ME i could have abs like his!  Well, as you can imagine, I always wanted to look like a 24 year old man with a washboard stomach, so I was hooked!
I was gonna buy the dvd's right there, but decided to hold on and check on EBAY - there it was for £4.99

I've just done the first workout - it was amazing.  I was dancing in the front room, shaking my funky stuff, trying to impress this man on the telly who can't see me and really enjoying it.  It was a 30 minute set, and all we did was dance - no exercising, no reach and touch and stretch, just DANCING
My knee twinged a bit, but after cooling down it's not really hurting at all now, and I can't wait for tomorrow's set.

So, if you fancy strutting your funky stuff try this dvd, i have no idea how to tilt, tuck and tighten, but I do know that this is a great dvd and worth every penny of the £4.99

I'll report tomorrow - if I can move!

hi macduff, I  love reading your posts!! you do have a great way with words.. Ill def buy a copy of your book!! what is this DVD called? sounds like fun and even better if it gives the eyes a workout to!
Iv been on 15s for 3 weeks now was on 10s for 3 weeks before, whats that 6 weeks now (had a week off them at christmas wanted to be able to eat my christmas pud) the last 3 weeks have been incredible! I have control over what I put in my mouth for the first time ever.. I think they have settled into my system now and food is just not a priority(i am still finding evenings I have less control but as iv posted elsewhere i think that is a bad comfort habit i need to break or play around with  when i take my reds) I have weigh in tomorrow night and am going to be disappointed with anything less than a 3lb loss. iv worked really hard on feeding my body the right thing and walking to school every day, salsasize at Rosmary Conally and digging mud and clay out of the garden.. so fingers crossed that the scales shift

The DVD is called

Hip Hop Abs by Shaun T - if you check out EBAY there was a guy selling just the discs for £4.99 but if you want the whole system (eating plan, which disc to use on what day etc) then try the Best Direct website.

I'm so looking forward to tomorrow cos I just wanna do another!  Ask me again in a couple of days... it'll be collecting dust with "Cher Step", "Jane Fonda" and "Hooked on Classics Aerobic Video"

Drugs Niyra - I'm a walking chemist!

Glucosamine and cod liver oil for arthritis, co-codamol for pain, oh and the reds.

To be honest, I've got more energy now than I ever had - it's the weight loss pure and simple!

I want to do this, and if I'm going to make a go of it then I've got to be willing to put in the hours.  Also I love dancing (have I mentioned that before   ) so this DVD is ideal for me.
I used to joke that the best diet for me would be dysentry and Madness.  I did mean the band Madness, not the straight jacket, padded cell madness
I tried belly dancing for a few weeks, but I was so fat and unfit that it absolutely killed me - maybe I'll give it another go when I've lost a bit more?

As for the book, well it'll be a joint effort from us all I think - my story's no different to anyone elses so I'm going to "pinch" bits from everyone on here.

Obviously I'll be taking all the credit and keeping all the money   (except the share I've got to give Humpty!)  I've no idea what she's going to buy with £9.50!

You need to be careful with you spelling though - if you get really low, and want to do a deal with the devil just make sure you don't offer to sell your soul to SANTA! lol
