oh moodgoddess. my heart goes out to you!  wish i could give you a big hug!

you know how we discussed the jon gabriel book - i checked and you can order it off his website and he will post to you in the UK.  you can pay by paypal, credit card, bank transfer, or cheque money order.  would you consider buying it?  it is only $35 australian dollars which i think is only about 18 GBP.  it comes with the meditation cd.  the reason i'm mentioning this again is not to hassle you but i think it would help you realise that food isnt your enemy and that you can add a load of nutritious food into your diet that should give you more energy and help the weight come off.  also the cd is just amazing - you'll get such a good night's sleep after it as well as set yourself up for good habits for the next day.

on another point i assume you've had your thyroid checked? or any other medical reason why the weight might not be coming off???

keep your chin up.  i know it just must be so hard for you with everything you're dealing with (those troublesome scales, your mum, the heat, discomfort, headaches etc).  being overweight is just MISERABLE isnt it, for so mnay different reasons.   good luck with sorting things out with your doctor.

cheers geminigirl

just to add as when i wrote my previous post i hadnt seen your post about what you eat  - i think you're not eating nearly enough protein. this will help boost your metabolism which is probably pretty sluggish.  why not add a boiled egg at breakfast time and perhaps about 100g of chicken or red meat at lunch time.  or even a whey protein shake mid afternoon.  protein is needed for every process in our bodies even for burning fat.  it will also make you feel fuller for longer and protein (while it has the same calories per gram as carbohydrates) actually requires more energy to digest so you end up with less calories per gram (if you can follow what i mean)

also in regards to the contipation get some psyllium husks from the health food shop or the supermarket.  it's cheap and is actually what most laxatives are made with but it doesnt have any of the harmful stuff that laxatives have in them. it is a natural source of fibre that is one of the only sources of fibre that is classed as both insoluble and soluble so not only does it shift matter along the bowel and can elminiate constipation but it also lowers cholerstrol. (and all the other good things fibre does).  you just dissolve a teaspoon of it in a glass of water and drink it pretty quickly (else it gets gluggy and harder to drink).  i have about 3-4 glasses a day if i ever get constipated and it sorts me out pretty quickly.

also do you ever have vegie juices? they not only fill you up for ages and give you loads of nutrition but they make you poo very regularly!!!

all the best
Gem...

ha ha slap my wrist for no vegtables yesterday, I love my vegtables and have tons throughout the week, yesterday was maybe my bad day for no fruit and veg so not a great example but just wanted to show that you can eat more than just fruit and water and still lose weight successfully, I always watch sat fat and cal content in things thats why I still eat crisps but buy the walkers baked versions or walkersfrench fries, I used to have a big thing for Jordans crunchy oats with honey almonds and raisins and got myself in a bad habit of eating 4 bowls a day, I cut it out because the calories and sat fat in a portion is much much higher than a bowl of special K bliss (now my normal breakfast).  Another thing re the constipation I sprinkle a handful of linseeds over my breakfast as I can suffer quite bad when taking reds.

Thank you both for your thoughts.

Well I will try and eat more but I really struggle. My friend took me out for what I thought was a cup of tea today but it ended up being lunch at about 2.30pm.

She took me to a Frankie and Benny's which had absolutely nothing I wanted to eat on the menu. She claimed they did salads - yeah with copious fatty dressings! Anyhow I settled for a grilled chicken in a bun with tomato and lettuce but it also had fried onion rings and chips with it. I left the fried stuff, didn't finish the chicken and am now at 6.30pm still feeling stuffed! She has gone home for dinner and she's thinner than me!

On the plus side, she hasn't seen me for about 3-4 weeks and said the weight is coming off, which made me feel better.

After one mouthful of the lunch I knew I didn't really want it but sorta felt compelled to eat what I could as she had paid for it.

Now I know I should have dinner so I am going to have a bit later steamed veg with tinned tomatoes, about all I fancy and not too heavy.

I can't be doing too badly really I'm eating far more fruit and veg than I ever have.

I remember years ago doing an allergy diet under doctor supervision - mum and I were guinea pigs because of our allergies and we had to live on lamb, pears and bottled water for 7 days to detox the system. The next two foods in were broccoli and turkey. You ate the foods at all times of day but mum and I did lose quite a bit of weight. Our allergies disappeared and when you added a new food had to explain how you felt and if you got allergies. And that's how we realised we have dairy allergies.

Milk, cheese, butter and cream.

However, I only got a serious allergy to any of these when mixed with other foods.

With regard the Jordan - I'm only having one bowl a day and when the weather gets cold I will go to porrige and unsweetened soya milk.

I thikn I need a prune Activa - "I'm so bloated I'm as big as a house!".

What I meant to add was I might do a blitz week of lamb, turkey, broccoli and fruit. Might help with the pounds and clear out more toxins - especially from the rubbish I ate today and the Thai food tomorrow.

Hello MG, there is a very inspiring story on the Xenical sight which may interest you - Mum of 2 lost an incredible 12 stone in 9 months whilst taking it and looks fantastic.

Oh celt that's wonderful - thank you for that.

Basically it's slowly, slowly catchy monkey!

I'm sure I'll get there eventually.

Had my veg and tomatoes and feel even more bloated - me thinks a fig Activia is in order!

I've had the blood pressure thing again today. Around lunch time I got a hot face and ears. I've had them all day and sometimes I look more flushed than not.

I've had a hot sweat today too - whilst shopping I had water dripping from my head down my neck and face - yuk!

I've just checked and it is only 2 weeks ago I had the last one and I've just checked my BP and it's only slightly up but still mild hypertension.

I'm just sick to the back teeth of the BP thing, the bloody scales, and all the other rubbish that's going on with this stuff now.

I'm not getting heart flutters or racing heart though it did read 101 beat per minute on the BP monitor.

The only think that is similar to last time is last time I ate an egg mayonnaise sandwich, with this awful Frankie and Benny's thing I unwittingly had mayo on the bun which I didn't see nor think about.

I'm also getting like a slight allergic rash on my arms.

I just want to lose weight not bloody get ill.

you're not having an allergic reaction to something??
why don't you just make your own food for a while so you know what you are eating and see if it happens again.
