hi Moongoddess just be realistic for a moment please - if you weigh yourself at 26st 5lbs and then you don't eat but you do go to the loo and then you weigh more well it's just the scales and not your body. you can't gain weight without consuming anything!!! obviously the scales are just not accurate at your weight. all scales will be calibrated to a percentage of accuracy. the more expensive the scales the smaller that percentage will be. and then the more you weigh the bigger the variance in weight recordings. understand? a huge percentage of our bodies is water - around 60%. small variations in this water content will be reflected on the scales - not only how much you have been drinking and urinating but also have you eaten salty or processed high sodium content food (like baxters tinned soup!!). please read the article i am putting on as a new topic about why the scales lie. moodgoddess - you already KNOW the scales are not accurate for you so i think you just need to ignore them for a while because what happens is you weigh yourself - get a bad reading and then have a binge because you think it all isnt working i agree with Shazzy - keep a food diary including quantities. i think this is a good first step to see why you arent losing weight. at least then you'll have a record you can take to your doctor. if you are feeling crappy about gaining weight why on earth did you eat 2 WHOLE packets of self cook bread - it's just so self destructive and counterproductive. you are worth more than that. really start believing in yourself and also that you can lose weight. i'm not just saying these things without understanding you. before i started losing weight i would have spent a year losing the same 2 to 3 kilos and regaining it. i just didnt believe that i could really do it so i'd start doing it for a couple of weeks then majorly sabotage my efforts by overeating and gain abck the weight. it wasnt till i went on reductil and started doing my weight loss mediation and visualising myself slim that it all came together. now i totally know i'm going to be slim again. i have absolutely no doubts that i can do this and keep it off for life. i may not lose the weight as quickly as i'd like but i know that a year from now i won't be overweight at all. i think you need to also take a longer term view - IT'S NOT A RACE - you have the rest of your life to be slimmer and healthy. if you've gained a pound just ignore it and keep doing what it takes to lose the weight and eventually it will all come off. chin up geminigirl

Thank you all for your posts. Let me answer them. First of all, I have cut out bread, marg, butter, sugar, processed foods, biscuits, ice cream, chocolate, sweets. Now, I have had a few chocolate snack a jacks last week, the bread rolls yesterday with marg, the hamburger and breakfast with dessert last Sunday when out and some Jaffa cakes and the bagette and brie saga last week. That is the ONLY naughty food I have eaten in the last 15 weeks. I have been climbing 2 flights of stairs at least 3 times a day since starting and am still puffed out. I walked the dog further and I am trying to excercise myself more - though it is still extremely difficult for me at this time. As I said to Ali, I have been on Depo Provera for 14yrs - I cannot come off it - I would end up on a murder charge as my moods were very violent before Depo and with mum the way she is I don't dare come off of it yet. The doc is with me on this. Progesterone imbalance can effect the ability to lose weight, it would appear from reading on the net - some people cannot lose and many get increased appetites. I currently do not have increased appetite the glitch of last weeks hunger has gone. I have kept food diaries and I am not over-eating. I have even cut down to 2 meals a day and no movement! I know someone on reds who is eating bearly nothing and losing 6lbs a week because they cannot swallow the food easily and have no appetite - so the starvation mode isn't effecting them. I'm sick of it because no-one can see a difference. The OH actually came clean and said he truthfully cannot see any difference between last week last year and 6 months ago - he said - "you look the same". He really didn't realise I'd lost so much weight. I also do not know how much longer I can keep affording to buy fresh food - the food bill are crippling me because I'm not getting BOGOF's and cheap deals on fresh stuff. I fully understand fluctuations on the scales but if I go back to the docs next week and I am weighing 26st 5lbs - it will show I have lost nothing in 3 weeks! That is not good! I really appreciate everyone's advice, but I really am getting to the end of my tether. I realise it's long term, I'm not stupid and expecting a 5 stone drop in a few weeks. But realistically I should lose nearly 4 stone in total by Christmas - based on 2lbs per week. That is 12 weeks away - if I lose 2lbs per week I will only make another 1st 10lbs which would put me at 24st 9lbs less than 6 months at 2lbs a week which would be 4 stone in 6 months. 28st 2lb minus 4 stone = 24st 2lbs. That is IF I start losing from this week. Seeing as I've been at 26st 4lbs 3 times now it seems it might be a bit unlikely. My skin is bad, I am tired all the time and my memory is playing me up. I also have to go a defend a stupid bankruptcy charge against me in Court today because of a student debt I can't afford to bloody pay being a carer. I shall be defending it alone coz I can't afford a solicitor. Quite frankly I'm jack of it all at the moment!

oh moodgoddess - you poor thing. it all sounds horrendous. i can so see why you are getting fed up with it all. nothing sounds easy for you at the moment. so weird that your skin isn't good when you are eating fresh food, drinking so much water and exercising. that doesn't sounds right at all. i'm at a loss as to why this is all happening for you. i don't know anything about your other health issues (no medical degree here!). anyway i just wanted to say that i'm really sorry to hear all that and i hope you are ok and that you've got some good non-cyber friends who can give you a good hug and cheer you up also. good luck in court also.

Thanks Geminigirl. I've not told anyone close to me about Court as they are all too busy and I don't have any offline friends left. Hey guess what? Back to bloody 26st 7lbs - again! It's getting to be a habit.

Hi MoonGoddess You have a lot on your plate at the moment (no pun intended) so I think you need to take a step back and cut yourself some slack. Why don't you keep taking the reds but forget about stressing about the weight and food. Keep drinking water, when you think you are thirsty, but eat normally for a week. Don't weigh yourself for a week and see how you are then. Sometimes worrying about food and dieting makes it all that much harder and if we just drop back a step or two and relax the way we are thinking for a short while, it can help. It may give your body a bit of a jolt too, if you have been stagnant.
