Well Pammy unfortunately moonstone lowered the tone by making direct jibes under the veiled guise of "I don't mean to offend...." which actually translates as "I am meaning to offend....", else she wouldn't have to say it. I find that immature. However, you gave no reasoning for what you consider mature reactions. Do I take it nothing should have been said? That helps everyone doesn't it? Including the children.

moonstone also used what many on here would call insensitive and negative remarks, something the rest of us never do.

She also tried telling me I must be "..really, really embarassed of yourself...", and she's wrong. If I were embarassed I'd have slinked away cried, as it was I considered these people and their children ill mannered and ignorant.

If my mother could bring me up not to behave in such a way to others, then I expect other parents to do the same.

I find the remark about Germans being judgemental, judgemental in itself.

If the World goes around saying, "It's ok for Germans to say that about fat people but not Jews or coloured races, and it's ok for Americans for hate Muslims and it's ok for British people to pick on fat, poor people, etc...", what a sad and pathetic World we live in.

Mothers: yes children ask odd questions but a well bought up child is taught early on not to mock an affliction of another. That is down to the parents. I'm sure if either of those children ends up getting bullied by other kids because they are half German, the parents would go bananas, and rightly so. But remember, they learn their early behaviour from the home, if you mock people for their differences, then they will, if you swear, they will, etc. There is no excuse for ignorance, the adults have the ability to reason, the children follow their parents lead. And if you don't address a situation there and then, small children do not remember what was done wrong and they never learn.

It is a sad and worrying World when bad behaviour in children is constantly excused, when almost every day another child is getting stabbed to death by other children.

So, I appreciate the more intelligent input and differing opinions, however, when one person needs to get their veiled insults across by belittling someone, I find it particularly sad. I love the way I was accused of threatening Court to the lady - I did no such thing, however, when ignorance strikes it appears it is ok to misquote people on purpose, just to score points.

So, while I accept some people in society will not agree with me, I also feel I have the right to voice my opinion about rudeness and insulting behaviour without being told I am unhinged and giving an over the top reaction.

I do feel moonstone has an issue with people of my size, yet at by her own admission 13 stones and with a BMI of 29 she feels she is fat and worthy of purchasing Xenical and even considering Reds. So if she has the right to use it to lose weight, so has everyone else without being belittled along the way.

Now, ladies and gentleman, as I started this, my diary thread, I would be greatful if we could now move on from this little diversion. If you don't like what I write, please don't read my thread, it's not mandatory. I am happy for people's differing opinions, that makes for lively debate, but please leave insulting and negative remarks in the Kindergarten.

Hi
Me again I'm afraid, some advice plz.

I am 15 stone. At what weight do doctors think your obese enough to prescribe Reductil?
Went to docs yesterday and doc told me I have to see a nurse etc; before she would even considered it, and go down the diet route, as if I have never considered a diet. I did explain to her that my visit to see her was the last resort and that I have tried every possible diet under the sun.
Was a bit upset as I work in pharmacy and the amount of prescriptions that come in for anti smoking aids an also for Methadone for the addicts is unreal. Don't get me wrong I understand that people need help with stopping smoking an with their addictions, but surely I am as entitled to help with loosing weight.

What do you think, am I being naive to think like this?

oh sweetheart what a horrid thing to happen to you ,
in my PERSONAL opinion , i would have made my child apologise for shouting out "look at that" .. thats just down right ignorent, and yes i would of explained to them in front of everyone that was a very rude thing to say in front of a person .. made them feel equally as embarrssed as you must have sweetheart, at the end of the day children need to learn at a young age,,
"LOOK AT THAT " was not a question that could be answered it was pure ignorence, and yes i blame them paticular parents..i have 4 children of my own, and i know for one i have brought mine up with the correct manners as to not shout out in front of anyone anything of that nature... cos at the end of the day who is it that teaches them ???? oh yes its us !
MG babe your doing mega... you keep up the good work, and look forward to reaching that goal.

your a wonderfull person inside and out , AND NOBODY  should belittle or put you or anyone down for how you look darlin

love as always kels xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Thanks Kels - it's actually made me stronger because I know I've acheived far more since the end of June than I have done in a long time.

Pammy:
I am no expert and I'm sure there are loads of people here who may know more than me, but I think your BMI needs to be over 30 and that obviously depends on your height.

Personally, I would love to be 15 stones again, LOL, but if your BMI is 30 or over I think you are eligable for Reds.

As for being 15 stones - it's getting closer, I'm now teetering on the edge of 26 stones - one more pound and I'm into the 25's!

Hi there, doc told me that bmi had to be over 30 to get reds but they do like to see that you have been trying to diet before hand as the reds are only an aid not a miracle cure. dont we all wish!!

Moongoddess sorry to hear about your upset.

I kinda know how you feel, i know that at 14 stone i am not the biggest person on the forum but at work the other day some bloke came in and looking at me said to my fellow colleague "blimey thats one really hefty bloke". I dont know if he wanted me to hear and i laughed it off at the time but i was really heart broken and cried when i got home. Thats what made me decide to see doc who was fabUlous.

Wouldnt mind but he was more cess pit than brad pit.

Hi MG!!!
Well done on getting to almost, bet you are in a few days in the 25's.
Can I just say I think that what happened to you the other day is bang out of order and kel's hit the nail on the head. As a family we get alot of looks when we go out shopping and things.  Paul in his chair or if he is walking is only 4ft2( he won't let me forget the 2!) Alice who is 13 but very very small in her electric wheelchair and me at the back of them normally moaning coz my feet are killing me!
lol.  BUT there is a big difference between the kid's AND ADULTS! that stare and say thing.  Some want to know why, and how both Alice and Paul are in chairs Others I just know are taking the p*ss. It is a society thing, not just about weight but everything, and yeah it all comes down to the parents and their parenting skills.

I think you are so strong in the way you delt with it, hat off to you girl!!!

Anyway enough about all that sh*** you have moved on since then and the scales have moved down!!! Yeah

Keep going and remember the deal a stone off and a prezzie from America XXX Ali

HI I am 83 kg and I want to be about 72kg. I am 171cm tall..so I guess I am not what youwould call obese but my doc gave them to me no problems, knowing I have tried hard on my own to loose the weight. I have just finished my first week on them which was a trial pack of qomg. I have just picked up the perscription of 15mg that he gave me
