Well done MoonGodess, good for you. MY BMI according to charts is about 36, but when I do my BMI check on one of the little machine thingys that you hold out in front of you, my BM is 42. But either way it is over 30. I am at docs again on Friday so will ask again. I go to the gym 3-4 times a week but have recently put a stone on after having a Marina coil fitted but I am always trying to cut down.I think i just need a bit of a crutch to help me along. Anyway well done again MoonGodess and good luck Pammyx

Well I have ad a week off from mum and the OH and I have been all over the place. I have walked far more than I ever have in the last 5 years and my OH actually noticed I could still shoot up the stairs after being out all day walking in London and round museums. I've done some hill climbing too. I've also kept up with my weights and hey, guess what? I'm back up to 26st 2lbs I hit 25st 13lbs again on Friday morning but I don't know if you retain water when you are ill but I have a cold type thing. I'm not sneezing just snotty nose, sore gunky throat and general tiredness. I also think the coldness I was going on about was me going down with this. I often get ill when mum is away. I've not eaten that much this week as I've not felt like eating, possibly due to the bug. But, wow, I was walking uphill and up stairs and rushing through the tubes in London and I wasn't in pain or breathless! Got the doc tomorrow for more reds and if I give her todays weight I will have only lost 2lbs in 3 weeks. I think something isn't right really. The weight is not coming off in relation to the lesser eating and increased exercise I'm taking.

Hi Pal. I know what you mean about getting ill while your mum is away. The same thing happens to me when I have a break from my daughter. It's like you keep going because you know you have to for your mum and as soon as you relax bang! a bug! I have been pretty poo this week too, got shingles and pmt. bloated and scabby lol Could it be that your walking more and doing more so you are losing fat and gaining muscle which weighs heavier than fat. Well done with all the walking, make sure you tell your doc that you have been doing more, health wise for you thats brilliant!!! xxx ali

I have absolutely no voice now. I can do strange squeaking though. Not sure what to do as regards reds having not had a cold or anything whilst on them before. I am taking honey and lemon and soup and bread and last night I had no choice but to have a pot of ice cream as the throat was so terribly sore I couldn't swallow properly. Hot drinks were not soothing it. I've got cracked lips and wake up in the mornings with a bone dry mouth, it's horrible. Luckily I have Dr for reds later today so she should be able to advise me as to what I need. I've put on another 2 pounds too, which is bloody ridiculous - 25st 13lbs on Friday 26st 4lbs this morning. I know one could say I'm building muscle but nothing is getting any bigger on me and infact the last two days I've felt bloated and everything feels tight. I guess it's water retention but it's still crap! There is something not right when I am doing all the right things and the weight is going on not off.

Just a quick update as I'm still bed bound with this awful bug. I still have no voice. I'm on anti-biotics which I was tentative about taking because all penicillin based ones are fine on Reds, but I have to take the Mycin group because I've developed an allergy to penicillin. As you can read from your leaflets Erythromycin and Chlarithromycin (sp), are no-no's on Reds so I've just started taking Azithromycin today and so far no side effects or allergic reaction. Effectively I have Chronic Laryngitis. I stopped taking Reds a couple of days ago just in case of any side effects with the anti-biotics. I have been taking honey and lemon like it's going out of fashion, though it's not soothing my throat much. I have eaten ice cream because it does soothe my throat a bit. I have been eating shove in the micro M&S pasta and veg because I haven't the energy to stand and cook. I've also had biscuits and quick stuff so I can take painkillers in the middle of the night. Also eating lots of soup and bread as the bread fills me up and is soft and stodgy. Soft food is good, hard food I just can't swallow. I've hardly slept since Sunday. I was very run down and tired last week too. I am getting extremely dry and sore mouth, nose and throat due to being blocked up in the nose and waking up with no saliva in the mouth at all. This makes the Larynx even more sore and thus I barely sleep as I wake about 6-7 times a night requiring more honey and lemon. Eating Lockets like they are going out of fashion too. Painkillers I have taken are Paramol, but to be honest nothing I am doing is soothing any of it. It's red raw sore as I type and I've a terrible headache and long for sleep. So, I will stay off of Reds til I finish the antibiotics and hopefully I won't have put on too much. The OH thinks I should just eat what I fancy and however much I fancy til I'm better. No use trying to diet when you've a bad infection going on. With regard the Reds and weight up and down, the doc wasn't worried. She took my weight to be 25st 13lbs and saw it as a good loss. She is happy to keep me on 10's as I told her I knew all 15's would do was increase the metabolism and I could just excercise more and top up with Kelp and she agreed. Bit naffed off I have gone down with this now as I didn't want to eat badly again but it might actually kick start the weight loss again. I'm not stuffiing though just eating not such good foods. Take care all and don't get this bug xx

So sorry you're feeling rough MG. Take care and don't worry too much about the weight loss, time to get back on track when you're feeling better. Hmmmm, maybe I should try taking my on advice sometime!!
