Hi moongodess, sorry things are a bit tough for you at the moment. One thing thouh easy to say and not always to believe is to try and stick with it. The scales are not always accurate and even if you know you are eating much less and exercising then the weight HAS to come off. It may just take a little more time than usual. Typical example, 2 months ago I expected to lose 3-4pounds, I lost 1, now I was pleased with this but was disappointed. Last month had lost 4! and didn't expect that. Often it takes a while for the scales to show all your hard work and effort. The biggest trap is stuffing ourselves when we know we should have lost and we don't. Please don't lose faith, and p,s how do you know someone doesnt look at you everyday and thinks wow she really has lost some weight? some people are reluctant to mention weight even if they have something positive to say. Keep going libby x

Feeling still very down today. For the 5th day in a row the scales have shown 27st 7lbs. I haven't been stuffing or eaten the wrong foods. I can't even finish my breakfast now, I nearly left half the bowl this morning. How can I just put on half a stone like that? I'm not going to give up but I am very down. This always happens if I try to eat healthily I lose then I gain again and I never go back to losing. Dreams of using the Wii Fit is a few months are fading fast. Updated the ticker accordingly.

Hi MG, Are you eating enough? I know you probably already know it, but is your body having a battle with your brain? Your brain is saying "Nope, I'm full now" whilst your body is thinking "hang on a minute, I should have had a packet of biscuits and a loaf of toast by now... time to start storing fat!" It's easy at the start to think, I've had my lettuce leaf and I'm full so I'll not eat again, but the body tends to take a bit longer to catch up so maybe you're just not eating enough to convince your body there WILL be more food shortly, just not yet? Don't get too down, we've all gone through this up and down phase (mine lasted best part of this year)! Best of luck x

Hi there I'm not sure. I also have taken depot provera for some years due to terrible periods. Obviously this puts weight on. To put it mildly, if I hadn't I would probably have been banged up for my mother's murder by now! My moods were really severe. I don't get periods and have no idea when my cycle is, but the OH thinks I usually have a moody or tearful time around about the week after a full moon. The weight gain could possibly be water retention. I argued with everyone today and cried a lot.

OK I'm at my wits end with these scales. I have tried them everywhere and they are bloody stupid. I took them into the lounge because apparently they have carpet feet on them. I weighed in between 20st 2lbs up to 25st 3lbs - that was the highest I could weigh myself as. Took them into the kitchen and in the same place the range was from 26st 12lbs to 27st 10lbs. It also seemed to depend which foot I used first to get on the scales. Into the bathroom and it was 27st 5lbs - 5lbs less than yesterday and 5lbs more than this time last week. The OH weighed himself on his mother's scales which don't have feet on and he moved it all around the kitchen and bathroom and said he got the same reading give or take a 1lb or two in all locations. I will be taking my scales to his house tomorrow to see if he weighs the same on them. I have a real suspicion he will weigh the same. I guess it's because of my weight that it is so inaccurate. Feeling a little hungry today as I didn't have my Oat Crunchy. Ate about 10 clementines because they were so refreshing. I know it's hot for everyone but we are in a top floor flat which has a flat roof and faces the sun all day. This time of year I used to eat ice cream every night to be able to get to sleep. It's was 26 degrees in my room at 1am. I'm not doing that this year. I could murder a bowl of Crunchy Nut stuffs now.

hi moon goddess - good luck with the scales. must be very frustrating for you. in regards to coping with heat while trying to get to sleep, i used to live in adelaide (australia) and summers there are very dry and hot (over 40 degrees). i used to sleep naked with a damp towel over me and a fan blowing on me (so as the water evaporated it cooled me). also why dont you crush ice in your blender (you might need to add a little water) and then squeeze some fresh lemon over it. no calories and super refreshing. also the summer i was pregnant with my son was very hot so i also used to leave the bath full of water rom my daughters bath and then if i woke in the middle of the night hot i would slip into the bath (that was freezing cold) and cool myself down then i'd just partially dry myself. makes it much easier to get to sleep. you'll find as you lose weight you'll be better able to cope with the heat (as fat is an insulator and no blood flow) so that's a good source of motivation! hang in there.

Thanks geminigirl, I'll give those tips a try. Well the scales went to the OH's house and low and behold I weighed in anything from 26st 12lbs to 27st 8lbs in the same place witnessed by the OH and I was so greatful it wasn't me going mad. On the lounge carpet I was 21st 3lbs. OH weighed himself and the first weigh he told me he showed up nearly half a stone heavier on my scales. He got off, we checked the rubber feet were in place and re-weighed - he put on one and a half pounds! He's 13st 7lbs for the record. Seeing as these are digital scales the OH thought these were in some way faulty as they should be more accurate than dial scales. The foot shouldn't slide and show a lower weight and twice I stood on it and it wouldn't settle on my correct weight, bouncing between 26st 12lbs and 27st 4lbs. His suggestion was try a new battery, (cheaper option), and if still no joy, get another set of scales. I guess you are all thinking I'm a bit loopy going on about this, but you can't get a real reading from scales which play about so much. For all I know I could be down below 27 stones now but the thing won't give consistant readings. Oh and all weigh-ins were with me fully clothed with shoes on and I had left my keys in my pocket. Had a lovely salad with new potatoes and sausages for lunch. Still not very hungry and all good apart from not actually knowing how much I weigh!

Back again! Had some really tough things going on this last week but have not comfort ate. Still not hungry. I cannot excercise much in this heat. Well can't afford new scales at the moment but I read Libby's post which said digital scales can be effected by the weather. Our flat is so hot and is even nearly 25 degrees today and we've just had rain. I wonder if this is the trouble with them? I only seem to be able to get two weights off it now - 27st 2lbs or 26st 11lbs I've no idea which one I am so I'm not updating the ticker yet. I feel like I have not lost any weight at all. All my clothes are just as tight and measuring myself, I have not lost any inches. Still at least I'm not putting any weight on, at the moemnt, but I feel the Reds are only working to curb my appetite and somehow my body doesn't want to be slim. I have a feeling I will have a non-loss month which will no doubt convince the doc I'm stuffing when I'm not and stop the Reds. Quite tired at the moment. Am still sleeping well though I do get these hot flushes which are so horrible.

OK yesterday and today the first weigh-in in the morning was 26st 11lbs! YAY! I am no longer 28st or 27st I am 26st. Now to shift down this 11lbs and head towards the 25st mark. I really wish it were starting to show a bit more though. Typical, today is a hungry day. I've had my oats for breakfast and a couple of Dr Karg Emmental Cheese and Pumpkin Seed cracker bread things. I really fancy a soup and hot roll. I am looking forward to the colder weather as I really cannot do much in the way of excercise in the recent heat, I just pour sweat off of me and keel over. See I may have been very down but I kept going and it proved worthwhile. So anyone having trouble with weight loss, just think of me and carry on regardless!

hi moodgoddess. glad things have improved. well done on the weightloss. i had to laugh - (please don't think i'm rude, just australian!) i was imagining you were saying it was 35 to 42 degrees or something!! that's what it was (42) when i was sleeping nude under the wet towel. although i know you're in england but i did laugh when you were saying it's 25 degrees and it's hot!!! sorry to have a giggle at your expense. discomfort is discomfort afterall. in regards to the more serious matter of you thinking your body doesnt want to lose weight. as well as reductil i have also been following a thing called the Gabriel Method. the guy, Jon, lost a huge amount of weight, and now has an amazing body, all without depriving himself or dieting per se. he did a lot of mediation, got his body to want to lose weight, ate a lot of nutritious food (that helped reduce his cravings for junk) etc. i think it might give you that extra boost your looking for. i can't recommend if highly enoguh and it's only about $35 for book (including the best meditation cd that i listen to every night as i go to sleep and it gives me a great ngihts sleep as well as sets me up to be "good" the next day. give it a try - www.jongabriel.com let me know what you think cheers geminigirl
