Hiya Geminigirl Sorry for not replying sooner. I've looked into the book you mention and it's actually not yet published in this country but coming soon. I've read the website and it looks very interesting. How amazing was his weight loss? Well I can not confirm I weighed in at 26st 9lb this morning after weighing in yesterday at 27st 5lbs - more humid weather yesterday. Ooh I'm all excited about making my way down to the 25's now. I'm not bothering to worry about these scales going up and down now, as I've heard several other people are having the same troubles. Anyhow, will go off now and do the calculations to adjust the ticker accordingly! Sleeping good, no other ill effects to report. Still not hungry!

ok now i am going to ask a really stupid question here moon so please forgive my ignorance but there is a reason behind it ok... now just before i fell apart in the doctors surgery and told him i was going to have a gastric band fitted ive had enough blah blah and the doc suggested reductil first i had just purchased a set of scales...when i got them home i hadnt read the instructions and they only went up to 19stone...i thought ahh well got on them and shot straight round the dial and a bit more so i was actually weighing 4 stone ha! i was like ok that means that i weigh in that case 25stone....then when i was at the doc's and he weighed me on proper scales i actually weighed in at 21.5.... ive since purchased better scales and am pretty much accurate as to what i will be at ww and the doc's scales...those old but new scales i first purchased i am still weighing in at 3stone hehe that means that 40lb loss so far is 14 on them bloody things... there aint real great scales out there which go past 22stone on the open market so my advice is chuck the bloody things away stop beating yourself mentally black and blue, continue with your healthy eating and try and get into see your nurse or doc every week for a quick weigh in your really doing yourself no favours jumping on and off them and becomming more and more down about this. your doing brilliantly please believe it!

I really appreciate your advice GenGen, but if I relied on the doctors scales I would be weighing inaccurately too. His only go up to 23st lol. At least mine are now showing me coming down and I noticed the difference in weight when we had humid weather. So I'm not terribly fussed. They'll do for now!

This week has been a bit up and down eating wise. I've not eaten badly but not been as strict as usual. I feel quite run down this week and have ulcers in my mouth. I have not had a proper period of respite from mum since May and the monotony of people waking me up in the morning and their final call not being til 9pm is wearing me down, especially in the hot weather. No weight gain or loss but quite drained of energy. Sleeping still good and still not particularly hungry.

Weight static, and hope to maybe have lost another pound by tomorrow as I'm going to the doctors for more reds. Hopefully all will be well, though the weightloss this month has slowed. This is partly due to the huge reduction in exercise due to the heat. Ran out of Oat Crunchy over the weekend as they have an offer on in Sainsbury's and had run out. When and stocked up today but I must say, Sunday and today have been mega hungry days. I also had a very weird mood with the OH yesterday. But on a positive I did 20 minutes jogging on the Wii yesterday which is the most I've done for sometimes. I won't talk about the weight or scales - it appears where I was trying to make a humourous diary rather than post boring stuff, I seem to have p*ssed off people on here by mentioning the scales and getting too stressed about them. It appears I am too fat to get weighed and shouldn't bother. I had thought this type of attitude wasn't going to appear on a forum like this, but it would seem I'm still considered "different" because I am fatter than most people here. Nevermind. I'll keep posting though, sorry if that offends anyone.

Hey Moonie (sorry been dying to call you that ) I have just read through your diary again and I can't see where you have p*ssed anybody off. I think I am speaking for everyone when when I say, none of us judge anyone who is fighting the same battle. And as for saying you are fatter than most people on here. RUBBISH is all I got to say! Now chin up, get that smile back on and write about as many scales as you want, after all its your diary and if people don't like it they should stay away and not read it! Sharon xx

MG you have driven me to post again! Please ignore the silly/boring/selfcentred element of people who post on here - most of them probably wouldn't be able to cope with one day of your life. I ADMIRE YOU having been down that road. Most people are a joy and can be so helpful so please keep posting, You are right in that this forum is going through one of its boring phases.

Hi MG, Well firstly can i say i love reading your posts and i dont think anyone has a problem with you mentioning scales or anything like that. If it were me i would have been writing nothing but scales as thats the only real way (apart from taking your measurements and seeing that way if you are losing)to see how you are doing. i think Gen is just feeling your pain over the last few posts about them, thats all. Do you know what i had to do when i started with the same problem, when i took my dogs to the vets the scales were in a sperate room so i would go in there quickly and weigh myself, now thats embarrasing!!!! mind you my dog got the best check ups monthly ever!!! And about feeling different because of your weight, we all do, thats the whole point. It does not matter if you have three stone to lose, in my case 10 stone and in your case just a little more, it doesnt matter, we are all here for each other. It seems at time frustrating this journey, but 20 mins jogging, thats awesome, i could not have done that 8 stone ago, and that in itself should be a sure fire way of proving that you are GETTING FITTER! and in truth, at this stage, that should be what matters, so well done you, keep posting about whatever you want to!!! x Ali

Shazzy, celt and sheknows. Thank you for your kind words. It's not just what gen gen said - as you can see I answered her without malice. Just a couple of other things - but never mind. I vented my frustration and you're right - if they don't like it - don't read it! I think it was as Libby mentioned in another post, that digital scales react differently in humid weather. Not having my Oats breakfast for two days has made me feel hungry and probably more sensitive than usual. It's so true oats keep you going far longer than most other foods. Plus due to feeling hungry I've wondered if the Reds are not working so well and allsorts. So, I'm sorry I vented but someone I knew who lost about 8 stones in a year on diet and excercise alone told me to weigh every day to watch the trends and know your body trends. However, even she was finding some of the readins I had strange. You three also look so awsome now. I'm a little impatient to start seeing clothes fit me better. I think I should get my dinner I'm hungry and waffling! LOL

I hate skinny mates... ooh look at me I lost weight by eating a lettuce a week and weighing myself every day! My advice - poke them in the eye with a stick (then barbecue them) if they are that thin then there shouldn't be too much fat on them and if you toss in some salad you'll probably get away with less than 1200 calories?! The problem with weighing every day is that you become paranoid that last night you put on a half ounce oooooh, better have five less cornflakes to make up for it. Truth is, we've all got weighed daily (now I do avoid the scales, but only cos I'm bad and know it's not good news) but it's so much better to weigh weekly / monthly if you can manage it. Anyway, by getting totally screwed up with dodgy scales you are gonna get the best shock of your life when you finally find a set that work and you weigh 12 stone! Finally, it's your diary (YOURS) that means you can write whatever you want in it. Other people don't have to read it, it's for your benefit so that you can see what's been going on in your head. I was worried that nobody read/posted in my diary for a long time (I too try to keep it upbeat and humorous, humourous, funny), now though I just fill it in each week so that when I finally get round to writing that book it's there and I don't have to do any real work! Sometimes it's not easy though - if you are having a lousy day it's hard to be positive and if the scales are/were causing you pain then you have to get it down or risk the insanity that comes with not sharing. I'm not going to tell you to stick with it... cos you are doing, and it's obviously going WELL!
