Hi, welcome on board! Don't worry about not losing this week - it happens A LOT! Don't let it upset you or put you off your journey (we don't use the "D" word)... just remember to keep on doing what you're doing and next week is another week. Sometimes your body forgets to let you know that you've lost weight this week, and instead it takes half an inch of your waist... it's sneaky like that Drink plenty of fluids, if you can get a bit of exercise then do so but don't overdo it if you're not used to it and if you need any help ask away! Rachel x

Hi!! I wouldn't worry my doctor only weighs me each month, I weigh myself at home like a nutter when I pass the bloody scales!! I find that my weight goes up and down durning the month but when I get to my doctors for a monthly weigh-in I have always lost from the month before. If you are excercising don't forget you can loes 1lb of fat but gain 2lb lean muscle. Try measuring yourself too , waist, bust legs ect.. Take care xxx Ali

Well done on your weight loss I was the same as you i think your body just needs time to adjust I got on the scales today and had finally lost 2lbs after no loss for over 2wks and I'm due on next week so i'm really pleased. Just keep at it and dont worry, you have done really well so far so dont be disheartened. Michelle x

Hi It is definitely normal. Keep your eye on the long term goals and over time you will see the numbers moving down. This is a good reason to weigh only once a month. Take some tape measurements now, you will be glad you did. It is even more exciting than the scales, when you can look back at the actual physical changes that have happened. I agree with Rachel, the body is a fickle thing. I was stuck at one weight for over a month, but during that time my shape changed. It is almost a lag. Considering the speed that we are losing, that shouldn't surprise us. Now I am used to the pattern. I lost a kilo a week for 3 weeks, once I came 'unstuck. Then I stayed the same for a couple of weeks. I can see that I am starting to move again, slowly. I get the feeling that the less you have to lose, the more you will see this pattern. Proportionally, it is a bigger loss of fat as you get leaner, which takes longer for your body to accommodate. Of course, this is just my rambling thoughts on this, I haven't researched it. It helps me justify why there are weeks with no losses, so I'll stick to it for now. (It has absolutely nothing to do with the dark chocolate - that is purely medicinal, so can't cause weight gain!) Seriously, I say I am eating chocolate and I am fine with that. I never will be a dieter. I make sure to eat a normal (healthy) diet, and that does include foods not seen on a diet sheet. I do overdo it occasionally. But overall, I am learning what my long term plan will be on the eating and exercise front. It is mostly successful, my body measurements and scales tend to back that up! I have no womb at all, since I have had a hysterectomy, but I get effected by monthly hormones as I still have my ovaries. Do you also have ovaries? It will effect you, just not to the same extent, or in such an obvious way. Keep going and remember to think about what you are eating and why. This way you will be able to use the knowledge to learn new habits for life. Here endeth the lecture Bye Sue

Thank you for your words of wisdom have lost a bit more weight 12lbs in total since my last posting. I started reductil end end of July. Am taking the plunge tomorrow and starting swimming. It is a bit weird that people are saying that I look slimmer and obviously I have lost the 12lbs but Im still wearing the same size clothes trouser wise. but I have lost an inch on my waist so am not to daunted. Any tips for a flabby belly would be great as when I had twins my stomach muscels was stretched so much. also flabby arms tips would be great, one of my children commented a few weeks ago my arms looked like they were melting, aahhhh so I definately need to get that sorted, so any help please.

I could also do with some help with exercise for flabby upper arms? We are coming into warm weather here and I just bought some short sleeve shirts. I feel really concious of my wobbly bits, which will be exposed when I wear them. I don't want to revert to covering them up by wearing an over shirt. I suppose swimming would be good? I would ideally prefer something that can be done anywhere though. Sue

hi sue get some light weights - a couple of pairs of 2kg, 3.5kg and perhaps 5kg. do some bicep curls, hammer curls, and triceps exercises. this is fantastic for flabby arms. made a huge difference to mine. you'll see the difference in a month. and you caqn do in front of tv or whatever at home. if you are interested i'll send you links to what exercises you need to do and how to do them if you're not sure cheers geminigirl

Thanks geminigirl I will get some heavier weights next time I am out at the shop. I have a set, but I think they are only 1kg. I got given them from someone ages ago, but they have sat gathering dust for ages. Wasn't till now that I even remembered them. Sue

hi sue - you'll definitely need hearvier than 1kg to tone your arms. (i assume you know all about needing to rip the muscle fibres to make them grow tc, so you need to find a weight that you can lift a maximum of say 10 reps before you're tired. i do a pyramid system so 12 reps of my lowest weight then 10 reps of my middle weight then 8 reps of my heaviest weight the actual weight depends on what body part i'm exercising. i generally use 3.3kg, 5kg and 7.5kg but i probably should be using a 6kg for my heaviest for biceps as for my biceps/triceps but i dont have one and havent gone and got one yet. on my HUGE to do list. cheers Geminigirl
