Hi Everyone, I am swapping from reductil to xenical, I am so upset as I have lost 3 stone with reductil....oh well. So I am trying xenical....I understand you just only eat 30% of your meal as fat but can anyone tell me what that works out as per 100g's. I.e 5g fat per 100g or such like. Also if I went to a restaurant would things like steak (no sauce) be ok? pasta? This is all so new to me, I just need to get used to this new way of eating. With reds I could eat what I wanted really which I loved but I ate less.....oh well it will prob make my eating healthier now Thanks for your help

hello how do you calucalte what % of fat you are intaking from normal foods. I presume that higher fats come from things like cake, chocolate, biscuits etc? What about things like butter and olive oil? Also what happens to the excess fat it stops you absorbing? where does it go? judith

It comes out the other end in greasy stools ! the water in the loo turns to oil quite honestly and I know believe me! I've never been a big fat consumer but even the small amount caused me to nearly have accidents. People have literally followed through ! I recall a post on here about someone who did follow through in a DIY shop ! BUT saying that, read the past posts on the Xenical forum and you will find lots of people LOVE it and have had big successes using it. You can only know by TRYING it !!!! It won't kill you !!

Hi, I understand that it is about making healthy choices but in a normal 'diet' you should have anything with less than 5% fat in. I was wondering when calculating my 30% shouldnt be fat that works out to the eqivilant of x amount of grams of fat per 100gs so I know what to aim for when cooking etc.....as you say I dont want to have these accidents. For example Avocado is good for you and so are nuts but have a high fat content, surely although good for you this will cause the unwanted problems if too many are eaten. Thats why I wonder how many g's of fat is recommended...... I hope that makes sense (it sounds better in my head haha)

I know what you are trying to do but 30% is not your target, Xenical absorbs 30% of your fat intake. If you are eating between 1200-1400 calories a day you could have something like 40-48g of fat as I understand it. It isn't very much but please do some research online. Doesn't your leaflet specify ? Remember fat is in dairy(milk, cheese etc) protein, nuts and avocados to name a few. Please don't worry too much you may not get any problems and if you do you'll know by experience what to do about it.

This really does sound very complicated - and quite messy too! But the past posts have been very positive, and I discussed it with my friendly nurse, who said it has a high success rate. If you eat very fatty foods the side effects are worse - including farting apprently! But if you're strict about healthy food choices, there shouldn't be any side effects, she said. I've been taking reductil, I might just wait a bit before I start immediately on something else. But xenical seems like a successful alternative judging by this site! WA

hello Just following up the posts on this room, it seems very complicated to work out what % of fat you consume, so if you have things that are low fat, say less than 5g per 100g should you keep your fat intake to say 30grams a day but then have to calculate everything your eating? For example; if you ate an avocado salad with a chicken breast(no skin) - how much % of fat would that contain? Does Xencial come with a book that shows how much fat content is in every good? Similar to calorie counting books? judith

hi all iv been on xenical before and they were good. The side effects i noticed were when i ate cheese and other high fat foods.high fat foods in high doses will give you side effects.have a low fat diet and if you do have some of the right fats(nuts, avacardo ect) then dont eat too much.a handfull of nuts will not give you side efects but the whole packet will.having a dohnut after eating healthy all day will not give you sided effects but having a cheese sandwhich with it will.its all about moderation.xenical takes 30% out of the food you eat.so if you eat a whole pizza you will have an accident.if you have one slice with a salad, you wont.its simple really. dont use xenical as an exuse to eat high fat foods and think it wont count.its a pill just to help you. you dont need to take one if you have a low fat meal, save your money.healthy breakfast, healthy snacks and lunch then maybe have a pill with your eveing meal if your having low fat lasagne, chilli, ect.normal meals.this attatude will help you make healthy food choices which is what dieting is all about.if you eat a pizza followed by a big bowl of ice cream and take xenical then yes you may trump and oil your pants and it STINKS LIKE NOTHING ON EARTH! hope this helps.iv gone on it myself now the reds have gone,im gutted! anyway good luck everyone x

That's what I do - I take one pill in the evening now. I am being so careful with my food choices. It's deathly boring, but I couldn't bear the humiliation of something happening.
