Doctor gave me a months supply of xenical this week. She said she wants to see me in a month, if ive lost weight she will continue to pescribe them

Does this mean i wont have to pay?

Anyway, ive a long way to go, i weigh 21.5 stone, male 31 years old. My problem is i love take-aways.

Anyway, 4 days in now and ive eaten healthy for 4 days and ive got a great GF who is supporting me.

Its great to know theres a site like this

Hi Henry !
No you will have to pay for each prescription but the doc wants to see what effort you make to assess your commitment and suitability to the product.

Great to have your girlfriends support. Have you read back on the old posts about Xenical ? lots of people went on it after Reductil was withdrawn in Jan this year and there have been some successes. Whittleaway has lost 25 lbs since January.

Good luck and read your leaflet thoroughly to get the best from your meds, and stay away from fat laden takeaways or you won't like the result !

If at first you don't succeed........

Hi,i`m new to using forums,so excuse me if i don`t do it correctly! I`ve been given a month supply of XENICAL by my doctor as i`d lost 5 and half stones doing SW but became disabled a year ago and have put 3 and half stones back on:(  exercise is difficult altho i haven`t totally given in with it i just do what i can.My Dr didn`t tell me anything about XENICAL so have been reading this forum.I`m hoping i can lose the 3 stones i`ve put on.Since being ill i`ve gained a sweet tooth, biscuits and ice-cream which i never ate before.I`ve read you should just eat normally but not overeat fatty foods, for these tablets to work.Good luck to everyone in the same boat as me...it`s sink or swim now:)

Thanks Elvisfan, I do feel like a bit of a success story. Reductil started
it all off, but xenical thankfully kept the weight loss going.
Henry - you definitely have to be careful of takeaways as they are so
often laden with fat. My advice would be very careful. I've really had to
be very controlled about my fat content on xenical, as I'm sure your
doctor woud have advised you to be. But it does work, that's the good
news!
Joanne, I was also getting huge cravings for sweet things, I could have
devoured chocolate chip biscuits and pastries, it was driving me
slightly loopy. Now, I dont know whether this is psychosomatic, but
one of the lovely people on this site recommended chromium tablets
which I got from the pharmacy. Not only has it curbed my longing for
sugar, but I think its also increased my metabolism, which can only be
a good thing! Joanne you will find incredible support from people on
this site, all committed to encouraging each other. I've found this
forum invaluable - I'd never taken any pills before! Good luck, keep in
touch with us!

Henry and Joanne - how are you getting on with xenical? are you finding
the food choices ok? No problems?

Well ive lost 1 stone in exactly one month today. (doctor thinks ive lost 1 1/2 stone) but i know im right as i have proper scales, hers are old fashioned

my eating habits have totally changed, i have been out for a chinese meal once and i had a pizza (which i suffered for at work - embarrasing)

im going to continue with them, but i have a dilema, which i have posted a new post for.

Incidently i have not had alcohol for 5 weeks.

I had crab and chinese noodles recently that gave me some problems! We
all give in to temptation. Giving up alcohol is a very good idea, I was
never a big drinker anyway. But for me, I think this has a significant
impact on weightloss.

Hi everyone, i've just been reading through this post and noticed you mention not drinking alcohol, I have just started taking xenical and although i have stuck to a low fat diet i am going out this Friday for my bf's birthday and would like to have a few drinks but am worried this will cause side effects , the same way eating fatty foods does.I have posted about this in the forum but recieved no replies   so any advice you could give me would be most appreciated as i'm really worried about been stuck on the loo all night.xxx

How long before you notice any weight loss?
Been taking xenical for about 5 days. Been good with
food and not had any accidents or even signs
of leakage. My craving for food (or boredom), seems
to have eased up too. In fact I'm probably not
eating enough. Had headaches for a few days
too, but put this down to diet change. Are these
standard symptoms?  How often should you
weigh yourself? Thanks
