Hi everyone, i've just started taking Xenical and have so far managed to stick to a low fat diet as i'm too scared of the side effects to do otherwise!! But it's my bf's birthday on Friday and we are going out for a few drinks...i just wonderd what effects this will have as i don't want to be stuck on the loo all night!! x

With reference to alcohol I found this on the Xenical website......

•Drink a glass of water before each meal and between meals to achieve six to eight glasses per day. Serve water chilled and add slices of orange, lemon, mint leaves or cucumber slices for a refreshing drink.
•A sensible approach to alcohol drinking is recommended.
•If you choose to drink, then try to have no more than one to two drinks per day for females, and two to three drinks per day for males.
•Enjoy diet soft drinks, tomato juice, mineral water, lime and soda as an alternative to alcoholic beverages and high sugar soft drinks.

There is a lot of information on the net, you'd be better off surfing and asking your doctor, as people on these forums however well meaning and helpful are not qualified to give the sort of advice you need, it's more for sharing experiences and offering support.

Your best friend will have lots more birthdays and no-one but you can decide what you eat or drink. I don't want to sound like a kill joy but you're either trying to lose weight or you're not.

Good luck and take care

hello reedster,
I've been taking xenical for two months and have been very strict on
the whole, food wise. I'm not a big drinker and never have been, but I
have been out with friends on three occasions when I've had a glass of
wine. I know only three glasses of wine in two months would be
madness to many people, but as I said, I've never drunk very much
anyway. But, as for the effects of that one glass of wine in an evening,
it didn't have any effect the next day. So personally, I would say don't
be afraid of doing it. Of course, wine does have calories, but I can tell
that this is an important day  that you'd like to celebrate. so my advice
would be to have a glass and not worry too much!

Sorry reedster if I sounded a bit harsh but I just wanted to say that all advice is not necessarily good advice unless you seek a professional opinion on something as important as your health. If you got your Xenical from ukmedix they have doctors who can help.

Whittle has had fantastic success on Xenical and she knows the pitfalls, I only tried for awhile and couldn't get on with it so my GP gave me Reductil (now banned) and that's how I lost my weight.

If you think about it logically alcohol doesn't contain any fat so apart from the extra calories it shouldn't affect your, to put it bluntly, bowels !

Have a great night out and get focused the next day.

Take care

I have lost a little over 3 and a half stone with a stone to go but I'm taking it steady. The benefits have been tremendous, both in appearance and health and also mentally. People say I'm more relaxed.

I wish you every success with your weight loss, if your head is up for it then brilliant because it really is 'all in the mind'

Thanks, thats an amazing weight loss, well done. I have lost weight myself before 9 years ago after i had my daughter i was pretty much the same weight i am now but managed to lose it and get down to 10 stone through slimming world..then i had my son who is now 18 months and the weight crept bk on, this time i've had no success dieting at all, so i finally went to my gp who was really understanding and prescribed me Xenical, i could have kissed him!! I know  it's still going to be a hard slog but just feel so much more motivated now, i'm going bk to get weighed on 3rd June, and going to try not to weigh myelf untill then, which will be torture, lol. But hopefully this time i will shift the weigh, fingers crossed.x
