Look if in doubt do not try Xenical if you already have irritable bowel syndrome. What do you feel from irritable bowels?

I have recently been diagnosed with IBS and have discovered that it is connected with stress - i.e. the more stressed i am the more likelihood i have of experiencing IBS. If you do have Xenical try Colofac which your GP can prescribe to you. The tell-tale symptons for IBS are stomach pain and spasms, often a feeling of having a bloated stomach and, what i experience (every two-three months) is a feeling of urgency to go to the toilet. The good news is that IBs does not lead onto otehr conditions and is not linked to cancers. does anybody here have IBS?

like yourself inmarseille i had much better effects with reductil - i was on xenical but remember having a lot of bowel movements and so on. i then went on Adipex and really experienced a dry mouth all the time...the only medication which agrees with me is reductil. my GP told me that i had to really loose weight. how overweight are you if i may ask and how long have you been on reductil? With me it is coming up to four months and i have lost a stone and a half which i am delighted about.

I lost 40 lbs a few years ago using xenical. Then I developed IBS-D and also had my gall bladder removed. I regained about 20 lbs and was afraid to start xenical again because of the diarrhea problem. However I now take colestid (pill form of questran) to control the diarrhea caused by excess bile salts. I have started xenical again and found that by taking slightly more colestid I could control the diarrhea. It's early days (I've only been on this regimen for about 3 weeks) but so far I've lost 3 lbs. My doctor suggested that I take xenical a half hour before a meal. I don't think this is correct as the last one who prescribed it (and all the literature) say you should take it with a meal or up to an hour after a meal. Has anyone else ever heard of taking it before meals?

I have never heard of that - I was always recommended to take it just after the meal. It works fine like that. How did you take it when you lost your 40 pounds (well done by the way)? I mean if i were you, i would follow that regime - and tell us all...

I have Ibs with constipation and have tried zelnorm with no luck. My doctor said that he thinks xenical will help me. I've read alot about this on different sites and found that other doctors agree. Hopefully this will work. Is there anyone else out there who takes xenical for Ibs with constipation?

Sorry not to reply sooner. Have been away. Found I could not control my ibs while on holiday even taking colestid (and imodium). Had to stop xenical and put on 3 1/2 lbs! Now have taken off holiday lbs plus another 1 1/2 (back on xenical). It is hard to stay on it though. I maintain a fairly low fat diet (about 30 grams of fat/day) but I'm still getting occasional bouts of diarrhea while on xenical and have to take imodium plus colestid daily.
