I have been working out solidly for weeks. I change up my exercise regime most days to keep my body guessing.

Now i have hit a wall.  I feel unispired. What do you do to get yourself motivated, and what motivates you.

What motivates me most is working out with friends but when they can't make it cos they go on holiday to Miami i get a bit lost! need to find some inspiration.

Please help!

Hey Disco,

I have to say, my friends motivate me the most, if they don;t feel like working out, i motivate them, and vice versa.

I think changing it up is a good thing but maybe try something totally different outside the gym.

Maybe join a sports team or join a running club.

I am looking into doing circuit training in the park some evenings and weekends.  I have just started getting into boxing so maybe i will pick up on it some more.

There are great things to try, have a look online and see what you can find for motivation and excitement!

Good luck!

When I use to go to the gym my best inspiration were music and the mirror!! every time I was feeling down enough to skip the gym, I would look at myself in the mirror and think about the things that I wanted to change and the ones that were changing for good!.  Music ether pull you up or push you down, so you have to listen to fast and exiting music while you exercise.

Hopefully this works for you too.  Good luck!

Got to agree with you Jenny,

MUSIC is KEY!

When a good song comes on, I leterally have a smile on my face when i work out or i even sing a little bit...

My choice is drum and bass, or some happy hardcore... gotta love it!

I do not agree with mirrors in gyms.  I think they make people look to posey.  If you are going to be in a gym, you are there to work out and lose weight, not pose.

Only my humble opinion but felt I need to put my two pence in..Kx

Hello ladies! i, too got so bored of my gym but Karen, Mirrors are the best things in gym.  They motivate you when you look bad and motivate you when you start to notcie that you are looking good.  You probably need a little more self respect and to enjoy looking at yourself a little more, like what you see - judging by the fact that you are on the Intrinsa forum, someone else likes you too

Anyway, I made a pact that myself and a friend walk to the gym (we will eventually jog) and then once at the gym we have a coffee, then do a weights and abs routine. then walk back.

Its around a mile and a half away so we are getting a 3 mile walk and a good old gossip on the way.

Made me love my gym a little more!

Hey ladylala, my point on gyms is that it drives me crazy to see people checking themselves out and checking each other out when we are all there for the reason of losing weight.  It certainly makes me self conscious and I am sure it makes many more people like me not want to go back to the gym!

On the other hand, I love your suggestion of walking to the gym and then doing your weights there..maybe even cycling, if I can get my darn bicycle working again! ha..Kx

the thing about mirrors is, yes, some take the opportunity to check themselves out, check out their muscles etc, the other is you need to check your form especially if doing weights, you need to look at posture etc so you get a maximum work out.

It wasn't until i started working out in front of a mirror that i realised i was going some things wrong!

Anyway hope that helps..

Thanks Discostick and I do get your point but I really just hate those posers.  Maybe they should just create a 'real persons gym' where posers are not allowed..problem is how does one define a poser?

I know a few, thats for sure...Kx
