Is it true that if overweight running is a not a good form of exercise and if so - why?

appropriate discussion for me... I used to be oevrweight and found running the best and most therepeutic form of exercise - wouldnt say it was too bad for you. do you run or do you wish to?

hey there, thanks - I am a new runner and am a couple of stone over desired - i have been challenged to the marathon in NY next year but dont want to break any bones or ruin my body becos i am too overweight. its a hard decision. how overweight were you and how far did you run?

started off on the treadmill at home - walking fast and running intervals - then did more and more - made about a mile within the first month - i was just under 3 stone over weight and the weight just fell off Anyway, now am at a very happy weight and run 5 miles before work most mornings. Always outside - so much beauty out there.

what time frame are you talking about to lose the weight and how far is the most that you have run - sorry to be so pushy but since ive got you online wouldnt mind hearing about it.

8 weeks to lose the first 2 stone and then almost another 8 to lose the rest. Did run for a half marathon once but am sure i could handle a full soon.

if you dont mind me saying that seems a bit quick to have lost so much weight.. any help from anywhere in particular..i mean what was the motivation?

that works for me..on Reductil for a while - really works. Anyway - the running - going to try - as you suggested intervals first etc.. Exercise exercise, excercise...here we go.

dont have to run - just try walking for a couple of miles a day. i did. and do still...feel very fit and healthy..
