I am going samba dancing tonight, trying to do something new and fun to get me fit instead of staying in and watching tele.

Has anyone ever done it?

hey rosie
not done samba but used to do ballroom and also latin! very energetic and yes a totally fun way to keep fit!
enjyo yourself and let us know how you get on!
Dont be shy either, make sure you stick close to the teacher so you can hear and make sure you get all the help you need. You should try all different kinds of dance, street dance is quite good fun! Plus when you finally learn a whole routine, you feel fab performing it!!

A great friend of mine loves dance classes and she is awesome, when we lived together she used to go to classes then come home and then show me the routine! I would cringe as it so isn't my thing!!!

BUT last night i had a great time samba dancing! My boyfriend was hilarious and had no rythm! I had a laugh, got totally puffed out.  I would highly recommend it to everyone!

But I don't have a boyfriend - so if I went they'd probably partner me up
with someone. And what if its someone I don't want to get up close and
personal with??! Can you dance with a girl?? Maybe I could drag along a
friend of mine...

alright!
i love this one - made me laugh out loud! most men dont have no rythmn anyways! two left feet most of the time or they stand on ya!
salsa is always good, makes you move your hips alot! plus it gets you up close with some hot men!!

I'd feel like a fool trying this at my age. How old are people in the classes
generally? and can you turn up without a partner?

hello
I used to go to a latin and salsa class that was wonderful, some of the male teachers were very good and they certainly helped us ladies move a little more.
Ive not tried Samba though, is it similar to latin and salsa? or totally different?
I have heard that Ballroom classes are getting much more popular since shows like Strictly Come Dancing.
Although I have yet to come across a class local to me!

I love Strictly Come Dancing, ballroom would be a fabulous way of getting
fit, and wonderful for the posture! I shall see if there's one near me.
Again, not having a partner might be a problem! But this might take my
mind off food in the evenings, now that I've stopped taking Reductil.

hey peeps
Whittle Away - keep up the good work! How long have you stopped taking reds for now?
I guess you can make sure your eating enough of a main evening meal that would help you, also make sure you sip plenty of water throughout the day - 8-10 glasses of water is a good idea of how much. Sometimes hunger is actually our body telling us its thirsty - not all the time mind!
hope thats helpful! and good luck finding a ballroom class too!
