Now that I've finally given up smoking I thought I'd take fitness more seriously, and see what's going on on this part of the site. Rowing is something that I hadn't considered. It's a good idea. I wonder if they let an old codger like me on a team! There must be one for OAPs!

hey digger, I don't know how old you are but I don't think you are ever too old to take up a sport, maybe bungee jumping should be given a miss... BUT to put yout thoughts at ease, my rowing club, the chaps who row are all over 45. There is a uni team and a mix of 25 - 30 year olds but the club is majoritively older gentlemen types and they have massive bellies... So it is for everyone!!! xx

i always thought you had to be super fit for rowing, sounds like even i could give it a go! Disco x

honestly, I count myself as being quite strong, but my stamina is not at it's best. I rowed for 2 hours on saturday morning, pretty much continuously. I sweated A LOT but my heart rate stayed at a level that was comfortable and i felt great for it!! Have you tried it yet digger? issy x
