I can report that the weightwatchers fishpie has approximately 3 cubes of fish in it. What a con! I'll definitely be making my own from now on. I forced myself to eat it, as I'm on Reductil and not hungry, but it was essentially just gloop.

ive been buying the count on us range from waitrose whittle, and they are pretty good! they always have tasty things to choose from and are sensible portion size. ive never been a fan of the weightwatchers stuff either. the waitrose food just seems that bit more luxurious. even though im not hungry on reductil either, i care about taste too! i made my own mini shepherds pie last night whittle, you would have been proud. i used extra lean mince, and lots of veg in it - carrots, celery and mushrooms - and only a thin layer of crispy potatoes on top. with a big salad. i havent cooked in yonks!

i would def ALWAYS make my own food, though i am a big eater, i am a stickler for ingredients and don't like chemicals... msg, salt, farmed fish... i know it can all sound a bit pretentious but it's how I am .. I am now changing my cooking skills to cut down and not use butter etc i am slowly developing recipes that are very healthy and very tasty and i don't get it out of a carton... I have seen some of your recipe ideas on here whittle and they are yummy and delicious. i am not a fan of ready meals even if they are reduced calories... always read the ingredients, i think you will be surprised! and shocked. Rosie, sometimes it's better than grabbing something naughty... i know what you mean about the chemicals that are put into food and I am with you there, but seeing it from a different point of view, if i was knackered after a day at work, got home and starving, i would reach for a take away menu, but if I had a be good to yourself or weightwatcher meal, surely it is better to go for that as a last resort?? Issy xx

I think that's it - its last resort food. Ready made meals do have some shocking ingredients as Rose said. They use those brand names for low fat foods to reel people in, but then produce dreadful tasting things! Healthy food doesnt have to taste bland and boring!

if you google the top 10 things to avoid in food and stick to that guide line you can then give your body a chance to rid itself of chemicals and rubbish... issy x

I just had a look at that list - that was a good tip. God, mayonnaise is so bad for you. I used to have it in sandwiches all the time, on chips, with roast chicken. Spoonfuls and spoonfuls of fat. I really dont fancy it any more since reductil thank goodness. id rather have a scraping of mustard or relish on a sandwich instead now! WA

i havent cooked again since that shepherds pie - isnt that awful! ive just had too many deadlines, and im staring at my computer and before i know it the day has gone. i guess reductil can only do so much, i really need to get out and move more. im embarrassed to admit how little i actually do move about. no wonder my weight has stalled.
