Hope this will help:

For women, thinning hair or hair loss can be a sign of a problem in the gastrointestinal tract. It could be a sign of insufficient stomach acids; It could also mean a deficiency of protein, zinc and other nutrients. Taking two acidophilus tablets after or between meals (four to six tablets per day) for two months will help.

thanks mike - i feel like i eat so much good food though - i hardly
ever have junk. I'm not perfect, but I've never thought that i need to
supplement my diet.

I've actually been using the silica tablets for several weeks now, and I
keep feeling my hair in a pony tail - it used to be so scrawny, like
there was almost nothing there! But now I'm so sure that it feels
thicker.

My nails also seem to be growing so much faster! I have to file them
down all the time. But actually I've always had really weak nails, and
they're still not stronger. But maybe that takes extra time.

Yeah, I'd recommend Silica. I don't know if you're supposed to take it
on top of hair loss medications like Propecia though.
But I really feel like the Silica is working for me.

Silica strengthens and thickens hair apparently, so I've added it to my
routine too (I take Propecia - and so far no issues with combining it. It's a
natural supplement so I think that's ok)
Cheers,
P

just saw your post Daisy,

Propecia is definitely not for women, only for men.  Something to do with deformity in women carrying babies... The proper study is explained on this website so it should explain things fully.
