My Dr prescribed me acomplia, as I have tried MOST of the diet pills to no avail....

I am only on day 4 and have felt NO side effects at all....

I have lost my appetite and am only eating small portions. BUT The big thing for me is I haven't thought about food AT ALL....

I was on Retuctil last year for a month, but had to come off it due to my blood pressure. But I did loose a stone in weight.

I did use this site when I was on Reductil for help and support, which was GREAT for me, as I haven't told anuyone I am taking anything.....only my partner.

Hi Barbie,

Alot of people have had side effects on this drug, but
(touch wood) i have been lucky.  I have lost 2 stone
in 3 and half months and have been eating normal
healthy meals and having wine!!

So far so good, yes they are expensive but i would of
paid anything to lose weight, i was so fed up feeling
fat and bloated and now i can wear clothes that fit
and look how they are supposed too.....

I wish you the best of luck, how much do you want to
lose? remember that if you have any side effects it
may not be the pills, i had a bad dream but i have had
them before and did not think it was the pills, i have
not had a bad dream since, so it seems ok.  I also had
shakey hands for a little while but i think this was
my body adjusting to losing weight and not eating so
much sugar.

I'm here if you wanna chat.

Charlotte

morning I am on my second month and no one knows but as I have said on previous posts I am feeling great no side affects at all sleeping better than ever still dreaming but that is normal for me.I have more energy than normal but I am now checking my hair etc after reading the side affects most people are having.I had a check up with my doctor last week and she was quite pleased.I have as well lost 12 pounds in five weeks.I am not an active person although I have now started walking, but my appetite is minimal.I do eat three meals a day but smaller portions because I dont feel hungry. The best thing is I dont continually think of food like I did before.I feel they are working for me but after reading so much negativity I am wondering if its worth risking my health to be slim

Hi Jammy Dodger,

I have been on the pills for nearly 4 mths and i have
had no major side effects, i did have shakey hands for
a little while but not anymore.  I have lots 2 stone
and i feel so happy!!  No more bloating and feeling
uncomfortable and fed up.

I wonder if we will have to take them forever or will
the weight come back on if we stop.  hmmmm....

Good luck and i hope you carry on losing....don't
worry if you start to crave chocolate and you stop
losing weight for a couple of weeks, this happened
with me and then it just started working again.

:)

Hi I'm new to this board and going to start using
Acomplia. I was hoping to find information about
Acomplia. I'll start in a couple days after my
cholesterol tests come back so I'll come back and post
my experience with it. I'm still a little nervous as
I've heard that depression is a side effect. I'm not
really prone to depression so I'm giving it a
month acomplia
Just a little background on me. I'm a 41 year old
American who moved to Sweden 2 years ago (longgg
story). I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis (diagnosed age
12), have been overweight since age 6 (just after
suffering mono), and was diagnosed as type 2 diabetic
December 2002. That was probably what saved my life. I
read, re-read, and re-read Gretchen Becker's book and
really worked on understanding diabetes so I could
control it.

I started out with an A1c of 9.7 using 4mg Amaryl and
now have a 5,1 with 1mg Amaryl. My cholesterol is good
and my blood pressure is excellent. The problem, is
although I lost 100lbs the first year, something
happened and I have lost nothing since. I'm still
roughly 140 lbs overweight which is why I'm going to
start using the Acomplia as long as my thyroid levels
are all normal. I've thought long
and hard about it and just think the risks of heart
attack are too high for me.

If anyone else out there has tried it, I'd be
interesting in hearing their experiences with it.

Suzanne

That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

Hi Suzanne, well done for tackling the weight loss again ! I know from bitter experience how hard it is. I wonder if you noticed but this thread is very old, four years in fact. Acomplia is not available from ukmedix and I think it is banned in this country. If you go to the HOME PAGE above you can read why it was withdrawn.

The majority of us on the 'weight loss' forums were taking Reductil (sibutramine) which was withdrawn in January this year. It is still available abroad and some of us have purchased it and had good results. Why not take a look at the past and present posts, if nothing else it's nice to chat with people in the same boat.
