I think Oli answered you on another thread. It may be the glue, as I said already i got an itchy feeling under the patch but i figured it was just the transferance of the intrinsa stuff going through. But as Oli said you may be having a reaction to the glue. My mum has sever reactions to plasters and they really mark her like a scar. Hope this isn;t happening to you! Issy x

hello Thank you Isabella, I have checked with the nurse and she thinks I may have a reaction to the glue - they have told me to stop using the patch for a few days which I dont really want to do, I really want to persevere with this medication and not mix and match till I find something that suits! Does anyone know if Intrinsa comes in another form? judith

The only other method of testosterone for women is pellets placed by a surgical knife under the skin of your stomach once every 6 months (as mentioned in earlier posts). But you will only get this if you go through a Sexual Disorders clinic and being referred by your doctor. You would have to take your partner along to the doctor and tell him you are having sex drive problems. If you are lucky he may refer you but it's not guaranteed. As mentioned again, the medics are preferring Intrinsa patches now anyway as less invasive than minor surgical procedures. Hope this helps.

hello You really know alot about this Oli! Are you a doctor or nurse or something? I have never heard of a sexual disorder clinic either, I had no idea they existed! All new to me! Must be my age! Thank you again, I answered on the other room! I was using the patch wrong and they think thats why it irritated me so much, and I tried the hairdryer thing today and so far so good. I will keep at it and see how I go, I dont want to stop taking and the idea of surgery does not appeal at all. judith

Good lass Judith! No the procedure was not for the faint hearted. They numbed the site but the cannula with the pellet on was literally a sharp instrument to make a groove in my belly. The pellet worked great, probably better than the Intrinsa patches but I have tiny criss-cross lines on my stomach from the scar and stitches. The nurses in the room with me were nearly fainting at the sight of it and thought I was mad. So I have suffered for my art as they say. I have been very lucky indeed that I was able to have such a procedure as not everyone can get referred.

hello Oli So how comes you stopped with that method of medication? I feel for you with scarring, have you tried massaging bio oil on them? I had really bad scars from an appendix op a few years ago and tried bio oil and it has definatley made a difference with the scar, its not as purple or swollen. judith

I stopped the implants because the patches came out in England and the medics considered this less invasive - which of course it is. The scars are only tiny Judith so I can put up with it but thanks for the tip on bio oil.

I find it facinating reading about the pellet. Are the intrinsa patches still working well for you Oli? Issy x

hello So how is everyone on this lovely sunny day? I'm not sure if the patches are doing something, but I definatley feel a little different today - although I cant quite put my finger on what! It could be that the sun is out and finally after the rain, we are seeing some blue sky! I'm hoping though, that the patches are starting to work their magic! judith

Hi Issy, yes the Intrinsa still works. In fact I've had to come off them for a few weeks (long story). First three weeks I was OK then after that, the drive has started to plummet. As far as I know, they don't give you Intrinsa after the age of 60 anyway. Intrinsa is still new and still being monitored re what happens with long term use. This is why I don't like to hear young women on here talking about taking Intrinsa as a bit of a lift. If someone young uses it when they have plenty of their own testosterone, then do some damage to themselves, the powers that be will take it off the market and may be even ban it. This is what I am afeared of anyway. This is why I don't like it being called 'the female viagra' because Intrinsa does not work at all like viagra works in men. That's enough of me on my soap box! Take care. Ps please everyone, don't ask what damage as that's all been discussed on here before.
