`Medical problem Treatment for thread veins in a female Problem. 3 years ago doctors at a private clinic injected a 47 year old woman in both her legs with SCLEROVEIN. Two hours later this resulted in a reaction that caused swelling itching and distended veins and much pain. This also caused "Deep Veins" but Not Deep vein Thrombosis. The doctors who treated the lady have said that such a reaction is not unknown but not usual, and do not think that they are to blame for the ongoing pain, including swolen ankles. The pain is so great that it seems to be inside both legs "going from the inside out". The lady in question has been to various Lawyers and also a specialist in Harley street London The Harley street specialist says he can only treat the results i.e. can remove some veins but little else. Unfortunatly nothing can be proved against the doctors, other specialists cannot say that the doctors carrying out the original treatment acted wrongly, A legal solution is not now possible but maybe a medical one can be reached. Has anyone suffered similar problems? and what if anything can be done to at least take away the pain that the lady in question is suffering in her legs. Prognosis Not good. A recent visit to a plastic surgeon only offered advice to wear a surgical stocking as nothing else could be done. Please reply- ask any questions you like- give the names of any doctort/specialists who may help or offer advice. Thank you in anticipation of any help!

JohnClang, Im sorry to hear the distress your lady friend has and is experiencing. I stumbled across this forum doing research for a paper: I'm a student at Edinburgh University 2nd year - Although this is not my field i am aware of this treatment to remove viens such as varacose or 'spider-leg' viens, (which incidentally do not cause any related problems). Sclerovein solution is only one of many methods in which a specialist can treat this cosmetic condition; did the doctor tell you that there were other possibilities open to your friend? Finally - remember that every patient repsonds differently to medication and treatments. It might just be that your lady friend has a reaction to the solution or - that that quantity used exceeded the recommendation. Maybe the medical answer could be to completely remove the viens in question - ? Again - this is not my field of study and i am still a student so please dont take my advice as correct and factual!! Jessica
