Hi, im new to this forum and was looking for a bit of advice. I'm 25yrs old and have been dieting since Jan 09, i started taking red 15mg two weeks ago. I have lost 7lb in that two weeks thats 1 and a half stone since Jan, i am feeling better now but still want another stone off, the only thing that concerns me is my BMI has gone down to 27.5 should i still be taking them ?. I can't consult my doctor regarding this or to have my bp taken as he didn't give them to me he refused so i purchased them over the internet. Please help!!

Hi, thanks for that i was a little worried as my doctor wouldn't prescribe them for me so had to buy them over the net and they don't state when to stop taking them in the info provided. I am now 10st 1lb so should work out what my bmi is. Thanks again a real help.

I had to respond, as I have concerns for you taking reductil and I'm not convinced that the advice you've been given is totally correct. Here is a comment from the UKMedix Site: Reductil is a drug that aids weight loss. Principally it is for the clinically obese, those who are overweight and those whose weight causes medical complications. If you are unsure as to whether this means you, you should check your body mass index. Overweight is a Body Mass Index (BMI) of over 30. Reductil is NOT for use as a general slimming aid. If you start with a BMI of (for example)35 and lose weight to bring you to a BMI of 28, a doctor could well continue to prescribe until you reach your healthy BMI of 25. As I recall, the only time a doctor would begin to prescribe Reductil to a person with a BMI of less than 30 is if they have other medical conditions such as Type 2 Diabetes or high cholesterol. Personally, I would suggest that you stop taking them as I don't think that Reductil is the right drug for you at this point, and with your current BMI.
