Have any of you ever tried hypnotherapy to lose weight and control your appetite?

Well I can't tell you much I'm afraid. A female client of mine said that she's tried hypnotherapy on the Sunday Times website. She said it didn't take long - I think about 20 mins. And that after that she found her cravings had reduced. I don't like the idea of hypnotherapy myself - in case I'm not myself afterwards! - but I do appreciate how powerful it can be. A friend of mine gave up smoking after listening to Paul MacKenna. I haven't got the link for you, but imagine it would be easy to find. It was from this month - just after New Year's she said. If you try it, let me know what you think!

Hypnotherapy can be hit and miss... My mother went years and years ago, when I was a teenager... (so a long time ago) anyway she went for weightloss and really the hypno therapy unlocked the unhappiness and grieving from her father's death and my dads heart attack (he is still alive) which came about very close to each other and she turned to eating for comfort and really gained sooooo much. My point is the hypnotherapy didn't actually work for her with regards for helping her with food. But it did help her in the grieving process... I would def give it a go. But go with an open mind not a skeptical mind as I don't think it will work if you don't. Issy x

I'd worry about doing it myself though from a website...I think I'd prefer to have a professional involved?!?

I've just read about a woman called Susan Hepburn who has a hynotherapy cd out called F*** Diets... Apparantly she helped Lily Allen get over her over eating, drinking etc. Why don't you check that out and tell us what its like? I'm too nervous to be the guinea pig! : )

Just to say I looked at that site from the Sunday Times and It was an obvious money making con and now I'm inundated with spam emails from someone called steve jones, which I have just scrolled down to find I can unsubscribe so that's ok. The american man whose little video you listen to did NOT hypnotise me and my eyes didn't feel heavy at all. He then offers to ring you to sort your problems out if it worked for you, if it didn't he says some people are resistant to hypnotism and he couldn't work with them. I did go to a hypnotist once and I was totally resistant to him !! but I'd love to try it with Paul McKenna or someone like that. I have listened to his cd and found his voice very irritating so couldn't relax because he does talk a lot !! but maybe face to face might be different. I'd love to believe in regression but there's been so much about the 'past lives' being all in the imagination lately. The imagination is so powerful as we know. Having said all that, lots of people claim hynotherapy does work and I believe it does for them. Jay
If at first you don't succeed........

Elvisfan - I'm sorry you had those problems! My client told me it was definitely a woman. I just went on to the times website and found her - I knew the name would ring a bell. It's Susan Hepburn - the one ocanada mentioned. Just had a read of the article - its caled 'A Chocoholic Tries the Hypnodiet' and there's a podcast that you can listen too. The article seems to suggest that it curbed their obsession with food. I'm not recommending this!! I haven't tried it - just thought I would pass the information on! Sorry you got spam - you must have clicked on to an advert. I should have got more info on the post for you, I didnt realise there would be so many options on the times website. Anyway, have a read if you're interested. The title and name of the woman in the times search engine should get you there... see ya, Scotty
