Hi Jupiter,my son had the same thing about a month ago.He went to see a lady doctor (only because it was the only one available and he wanted it seen to straight away),She examined him and said it was very likely a swollen vein running along the length of his testicle. It's very common amongst men around the ages of 17 to 20 who play a lot of football. The vein gets hit by a ball (hilariously funny to my older son who nearly always aims that way),and as time goes by it swells and can cause a lot of trouble in the future. My son had a scan and it turned out to be exactly what she'd expected. He can have a simple op to remove it when he feels the time is right.(the vein not the testicle) However, this is not the only cause of pain in the testes.A testicle can become twisted and lack of oxygen and blood can cause it to slowly die.Cysts are common and, of course, there is also the risk of cancer .Whatever it turns out to be,you must not delay in getting it checked out, there's no point in worrying about the unknown and please don't let embaressment stop you.Seen one, seen 'em all,as they say. Best of luck Janet
