I am not sure why, but I have an idea. I have a friend with a similar problem and I think it is because they always have sinus infections.

sounds awful...icesugar is probably right though..do you have a sinus issue? Only other thing i can think is that it is a heliotosis issue...(sorry my spelling is horondeous but basically a bad breath condition which is chronic....)

I just cought on to the converrstion about smelly sneezes. I have had this problem for years and have found no help. Although I only ocassionally have asked a doctor or two and they think I am nuts and are absolutely zero help. Here is what my symtons are. I have generally good breath on a all the time basis. The only problem is when I sneeze this is espeecially noticable in contained areas such as in a car with the windows rolled up etc. I have to also say I am talking mainly about large sneezes which would have spray comming both from my moutn area and my nose. At first I thought it was more of a mediciney type smell but my wife says basically it stinks. I have had this for several years and it never seems to go away? Any help, insights or feedback on this wiuld be greaqtly appreciated. Thanks, Tim

TIM Great to hear from you - apologies that i have taken so long in responding! Incredible that you suffer from that as well. My feeling is that the condition is due to sinuses - basically that for us our mouths and breathing rythms are creating a flow of bacteria air.....if that seems wishy washy then it probably is. I still havent been to see a doctor but at this time of year i sneeze less. Also - i find that making sure you brush your teeth definitely helps the cause - which i think says a lot. hows it going your end anyway? happy crimbo mate

Finally a thread on this I've been Googling for months for an answer to this problem that I also suffer from. Exactly the same symptoms, good breath etc, but every month or so I do a huge sneeze and out comes this smell. Sinusitis usually has other symptoms like headaches and pressure around the cheeks and nose, but I get none of that. Let me know how you get on. One thing which might add some light to this though... do you guys breath well through your nose? Do you snore? I snore very loudly and struggle to breath in deep through my nose sometimes.

hey, havent checked into this thread for a while now - just to let you know that im still interested to know about this condition.....thing is that i reckon that it is the concentration of the sneeze, like the pressure, that makes the smell increase itself. I cant explain it well but I am convinced that it is the speed at which the sneeze escapes that causes the problem of the smell. Have you had it recently or spoken to other people about it?

I've been trying to find some information on this subject for several months now, and this is the first I've found. I have the same symptoms that have been described earlier, good dental hygiene, with powerfully sneezes that are very pungent. I knew it was bad when my girlfriend accused me of farting after I sneezed. I haven't seen a doctor about the problem, because I'm in good health and don't want to make a special trip. However, I do have a family history of sinus problems, so I have been using a nasal flush for about a month, but it does not seem to be working. If there is any treatment or known cause of this problem, I'd be egger to hear about them. Thanks

Never really heard about that but it must be something to do with the build up of some decay etc in the mouth but thats just my guess, also remember that the smell is sort of vapourized so ugh, it will smell more than a generic smell.
