Cystitis aka the honeymoon disease. When you have sex the motion of the sex pushes the bacteria up your urethra. Ever noticed that after sex you always need a wee? This is the body's way of washing out any bacteria that has made its way up the urethra. If you don't pee after sex and bacteria is up there..... there's your cystitis..

Hi there I have lived with cystitis for longer than I care to remember!! You can have sex if you have cystitis, it just might be uncomfortable if you do. If you are prone to bouts then wash before and after and make sure he is clean too. When I had this through my school days I used to drink at least 3 pints of fluids as fast as felt comfortable to get fluid through the system. I used to squat over a bowl of hot salt water (don't know where I got that from?)and the good ol cranberry juice but if you need the toilet go, don't hold it. If men have cystits it should be checked out as it's not as common for men due to the positioning of their urethra women have it all together so is easy for bacteria to spread. If you suffer a lot go to the dr's just on the safe side! I now make sure I drink at least 2ltrs a day and I only ever get it if I've been a bit silly on the drink and I'm dehydrated. Hope this helps! Cosmic x
