anyone help here? I get cold sores which i learned is the same thing as herpes... When i was diagnoised with cold sores (again herpes virus) the doctor was all casual and said - dont worry - total common.....but now i also get tingling sensations in my crotch area....i have had a look at around the vagina etc and have no signs that i also have genital herpes....i have only had sex with two partners (Im 18) and the first time he was a virgin as i was and the seconf time protection was worn....is there any way that the herpes virus travels down the body and gets into other sexual organs ewtc...?? PLease help as i am extremely stressed about it...if i do have herpes does it make me infertile?? thank you for all replies. Lilly xox

Please Lilly - go and get a test done...a simple blood test will check to see if you have the antibodies in your blood...if you do then you have it...if you do have genital herpes, called HSV2, (you have HSV1 - i.e. cold sores) then no panic - absolutely none.... To answer your question about fertility...then - do NOT worry....herpes has never been proven to distrub the natural way a women conceives....the otehr thing is that when you become pregnant you must tell the doctor that you have herpes (if indeed you do)....the reason for thsi is that in extreme and very rare cases women can often have an outbreak of the virus, (where the virus re-surfaces) and may infect the baby during delivery...the anser here is a ceasarian...this is extrememly rare. Yes...granted....herpes is incurable and yes you can spread it - BUT - a) it doesnt kill b) the vast majority of the populatio have the same virus, e.e.g chicken pots, cold sores are all herpes.... well done for being so open in these forums and i hope i have been of assistance...chaz

That is exactly right. Herpes in some way shape or form affects basically everbody...if you have had had chicken pox, shingles, cold sores - then welcome...you have herpes - or at least one of the 300 strains. Genital herpes like many other of the strains are indeed incurable. Sounds awful but it isnt. Herpes does not lead onto furhter complications, (notable exceptions being - infection during pregnancy or if you are advanced AIDS Patient) - all it does is become an irratating companion for the rest of your life. Once the virus enters your body - its there to stay. Some people dont even know they have it and will never have any symptoms. Some people will have occassional outbreaks where the virus travels to the skin to replicate itself. The other point to note is that the body does an excellent job in defeating the herpes simplex virus, which is genital herpes, and the virus loses. However. It is a clever virus in that it hides in the spinal cord where it is immune from any attacks...there it hides and abides its time....but it doesnt annoy anyone whilst its there. I have been rambling on but suffice to say that the last post sums it all up very well. be safe HL

EEk be carefull you dont spread it. I used to have coldsores as a child and then I had a really bad one 7 years ago and it spread everywhere and had to take antiviral drugs for a week. I had tests and was told it was from a coldsore not genital herpes nevertheless no concelation when you are screaming when peeing! I have not had a coldsore up until this week and god am I being carefull. LOL

using the essential oil 'melissa' is great on coldsores,apperently.. but dont forget to dilute in a carrier oil first such as grapeseed as its astringent
