I don't know if I am just being a paranoid mummy or whether I need to think ahead. The kids have just gone back to school and I am so worries that flu season is really going to be bad this year. Kids spread germs so easily. They are old enough to take tamiflu. I am just so worried and if anyone has any thoughts please get in touch because I don't know if I am being too over protective. Thanks for listening, Mon

Hi Monica, I have to say, I am in between on the discussion regarding Influenza drugs. I sometimes feel that the media scares us into thinking we need things more that we really do. I can't help but think that big Phamaceutical companies make these drugs right at the same time a new strain of flu has metamorphosed into the same strain the drugs treat. I say, give your kids pleanty of vitamins and keep them healthy and I am sure they will get through it just fine! hope you don't stress too much!

Hi there, I understand both points of view and thought I would add some more input as sometimes a different p.o.v. can help see another angle. CuS, i know that phamaceutical companies have a bad wrap for producing drugs that cost the earth etc. Anyway, they say that tamiflu is not the absolute cure for swine flu or bird flu. You can take it for any form of intense flu. It has been dispensed to people with swine flu as it helps reduce the flu process by a few days. So it hasn't been the only drug produced since the swine flu epidemic hit the world. It has been around for quite some time. Monica, you never how or if your children with get it and if they do whether they with naturally get through it. You just never know so I like to be prepared! All the best, Chris

I am just reading through the forums and was in the same boat! Didn't really have a clue about "swine" flu but reading the ukmedix website and these forums gives you a much better picture of it. I was a worried Mum and so got some Tamiflu just in case of an emergency now that the kids are back at school. JUST in case. Even if it puts my mind at rest it is worth it!

Hello - how do you know if you have got Swine flu or if it is just normal flu?? The info that we are given from the government is not very helpful as the symptoms can be for a regular cold or flu!! Can Tamiflu be dangerous if you dont have "Swine" flu? I have been feeling under the weather for a few days now and thinking that I should get some tamiflu just in case! Any thoughts?

Hello - This is all really interesting! However, I am even more confused now, if Tamiflu has been around for so long - will it still work for Swine Flu if it mutates as much as they say it will? and why do they run out of it all the time. I mean, if Tamiflu has been around for so long, would they not just have masses of it around ready for us to use? Sorry, questions uestions questions
